Gaudet Family Update – November 19, 2008
Date: 11/19/2008

Dear Intercessors,
It has been quite a while since we last updated you. Believe me the delay is not because of inactivity. Our last Update reported a group of men from Emmaus, PA returning to the USA. One of the men on the trip, Nat Williams stayed behind for several days and most of his time was spent helping us get a server set up for the office.

He was only gone a few hours when a group arrived from Fargo, ND. We have been involved with them since then. They have been in the south of Thailand for the last three days and during that time I have gotten some needed things done in our office. They arrive back here tomorrow then leave for the USA on Saturday morning. It has been a blessing getting to visit and work with these folks.

In the last week we have been in touch with three groups of men who want to revise, or translate Bibles or Scripture portions in their language. (Shan, Lisu, Dai) The goal with these is to replace modern texts which depart from the standard in their language, the Judson version of the Burmese Bible.

Please intercede for us in this. We need a great amount of wisdom to deal with the things before us now. God will have to move mightily on our behalf if we are to make a difference.

We are grateful for your intercession and involvement in other ways. Many of you also support us financially. You are making a difference!
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Date: 10/25/2008

Dear Intercessors,
We have safely returned from our travels to the North of Thailand and four of the men visiting from the USA have returned home. We surely enjoyed having them on this short but tiring trip. Nat Williams and Alex Coats worked with me today in the office to farther the installation of a server to better handle the workload and backup of important data. The more our publishing operation grows the bigger the need for handling the data safely and securely.

Carolyn Chambers will join us on the 31st of October. We look forward to having her work alongside us and our Thai and American co-workers. She is in Fort Worth, TX at present taking some training from Myra Noel in some computer related work.

Please pray for Krinny and me especially during these days. We are sorting through some major decisions concerning direction for the work God has given us. The older we get in the Lord, the surer we want to be that we are doing all that can be done for Him. The more we know about the region, languages, and people, the more opportunities we see to make a difference. Please pray.

We also face some dealings with visas for us to stay in the country. On Monday we will have to send a payment of around $1,200 to secure the next year's worth of visa and permits. Because of paperwork that a lawyer overlooked until nearly too late, we are having to scramble to get this done and in the process pay around $400 more than it should have taken.

We are grateful for all the labor you bestow in prayer on our behalf. Many of you also support us financially and we are mindful of your sacrifice to keep us on the field. You are just as surely in this work as we are as you pray and give. Thank you in Jesus' Name.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Travel Tomorrow, Ongoing Publishing Work
Date: 10/15/2008

Dear Praying Friends,
It is very difficult to briefly describe to you everything that is going on at the moment, however we are flat-out. Let me summarize: David and Deborah Madill returned to the USA this morning after 6 weeks on the Thai/Burmese border. Only time will reveal the full extent of the value of their time helping.

Last night a group of 5 men from Emmaus, PA arrived along with one young man from Frederick, MD. These churches support both our family and the Langes. They will be in country for one week. We are scheduled to leave in the morning bound for the border area. From there we will travel to Northern Thailand to return to Bangkok on Monday.

We would ask you to pray for safety on the road as well as God's leading as Bro. Lange and I show them the opportunities in the region.

A significant amount of printing is either ongoing now or being negotiated in four countries. We have several translation and publishing projects underway which are keeping our staff busy. At the same time we are adding new local staff this week who will need to be trained, as well as adding to the capacity and security of the computer network.

I have experienced some severe heath issues over the past few weeks. Drs are still trying to determine the exact cause so treatment can be made. I appreciate your prayers.

Please stand with us in the place of intercession. We are keenly aware of our dependence on Him.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Border Trip and Hmong
Date: 9/30/2008

Dear Intercessors,
Thank you for your faithful prayers as we traveled. We went first to the Thai/Burmese border and then to Central Thailand to visit with the brethren of the NamKhao Baptist Church in the Hmong refugee camp.

The first portion of the trip to the border we visited with David and Deborah Madill, the young family who is staying in our facility there. They have done a great job in laying the foundation for future work in the community. Work such as this is essential but time consuming. They were certainly the right ones for it. They are slated to depart for the USA on October 15th. BTW, Mrs. Madill just announced that she is expecting their first child! I guess they had to come to Thailand to sort that out!

From there we were able to travel to the Hmong refugee camp where we attended the 3rd Anniversary service for the NamKhao Baptist Church. The military gave permission for the Lange family, our family and co-workers, and Joel and Holly Waichol to be there on Sunday. It was indeed a blessing. These refugees have gone through some really hard times and their future is still in limbo, but they are so happy to be together and serving the Lord.

After the service, which was attended by around 430, a class was held for those candidates for baptism. With that finished, 58 adults were baptized. This was the first baptism service they have been able to hold since the problems a couple of months ago which ended with several hundred being taken back to Laos.

God is still at work and He is using faithful brethren of NamKhao Baptist Church to do His work inside the refugee camp. A men's meeting was held to sort out some problems the Church faced. They asked council of both Bro. Lange and me, and then they met in another room and applied the Scripture to their situation. We would have never been able to come up with the solution to the problem that they did! It was such a blessing to see that fully-functional church go on for the Lord and stand firm in the midst of difficulties.

Thank you again for praying. Krinny and I will travel again on Friday to the Chiang Mai area where I will be speaking on Saturday night and Sunday, then dealing with some translators and proofing as well as printing. Please pray for us and for our co-workers as they remain here in the office.

Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Sept 22, '08
Date: 9/22/08

Dear Intercessors,
In our last update we asked you to pray as we traveled to the Thai/Burmese border area with David and Deborah Madill, a young family from Grace Independent Baptist Church, in Linden, TN. They are slated to stay in our facility on the border for a total of 6 weeks. We asked them to help us get established there by making contacts and finding ways to minister. They have been very successful in obtaining a lot of information and built some valuable relationships. .

We plan to travel there on Wednesday to meet with them and get updated on what has transpired. A couple of our co-workers are going with us to be an encouragement to them.

We have tentative permission to be in the Hmong refugee camp along with the Langes on Sunday. Our plan is to travel to the border as mentioned on Wednesday (6 hours), then drive on to the Hmong camp on Saturday (4 hours). After services with the brethren there at NamKhao Baptist Church on Sunday morning, we will travel back to Bangkok (5hours).
We would appreciate your prayers for these travels and that we will be an encouragement to those we meet and minister to.

We anticipate the soon arrival of a young man from Victory Baptist Church, Fredrick, MD. He will be with us several months, working primarily alongside me. A group of 5 men from Lehigh Valley Baptist Church, Emmaus, PA will arrive around the same time in October to see the region and examine the opportunities for ministry. This church is a real friend and supporter of both the Lange and Gaudet families. I am excited about the plans for them to spend a couple of days at the border region during that time. This is also the home church of Anne Hammond, one of the young ladies working alongside us presently. Also another lady will join us soon from the same home church of the Madills.

The subject lines of these e-mail updates are not nearly as accurate as they might be. The subject line starts with "Gaudet Family Updates." We are oftentimes reminded of the fact that the work is certainly not done by our family only. When we pray, we often ask God to bless the home churches of everyone represented here as well as our supporters. This of course includes a Thai church which is home church of a couple of our Thai co-workers, several other Thai churches, a couple of churches on the border with Burmese people, and the Hmong church in the refugee camp. These touch the lives of our family in many ways I assure you.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for standing in the gap with us.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Sept 6, '08
Date: 9/6/08

Dear Praying Friends
In our last update, we reported that the Gospels in Burmese were re-typeset while we are on the border. Upon our return, we sent these electronic files to a couple of printing ministries in the USA and they report that these are scheduled to print. Lord willing, these will be shipped to this region of the world before the year is out. Another ministry is raising funds now for printing these inside of Burma. This can happen immediately after the funds are available. Please pray for these brethren as they and their supporters sacrifice to publish the Word of God for Burmese people.

We picked up David and Deborah Madill from the airport on Wed evening. The Madills are scheduled to stay in our newly rented house on the border for the next 6 weeks. They will be very helpful to us as they establish a presence in the area and open up some relationships with key people in the region. Their time here can be greatly used of the Lord, especially since we do not have the ability to spend but short times there each month at this point.

We leave for the border area on Monday morning. Please pray for our travels and for the work that needs to be accomplished. Pray for this young couple who have such a desire to serve the Lord in this way. God can use them and we are excited about it.

Pray also for our staff and Krinny in Bangkok while I am away with the Madills for these few days. Anne Hammond arrived from the USA on the 15th of August and she is fitting back into the life and work here very well. She was with us for 10 weeks last year and our Lord burdened her to return. Praise His Name! We have a lot of publishing work going on now in the office in Bangkok and are in need of wisdom and prayer.

Thank you for your faithfulness to stand with us in these days. You are a blessing as you pray and give.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Update – from the border
Date: 8/26/08

Dear Intercessors,
Thank you for your faithfulness in standing with us in prayer. We sense the leadership and provision of the Lord. Please do not stop!

I have been at the border since Friday of last week. The work is almost completed but what a job! I wish there was room for me to describe this to you in detail, but we found that the electronic file we had in Burmese was typed with a font that simply could not be used with modern publishing. There were too many messed up characters, and things out of place.

The Burmese man that God provided the first day is a real computer whiz and he was able to come up with a way to use a conversion program to convert this font to text with a newer, standard font (harder than it sounds). In doing that, approximately 10% of it did not transfer correctly, so editing and proofreading had to be done. Then after the layout was optimized it all had to be proofed again and corrections made again. It looks like we will be finished tomorrow and I will be heading back to Bangkok.

Now that the process is worked out, we intend to continue to work on it until the entire Bible is ready to be typeset while these Gospels are printed in the USA and Burma. Of course, that will be a big job. Every day we worked on this there were between 2 and 5 Burmese men here contributing help in proofing, etc. It was a blessing.

I had several really good times of one-on-one with at least three of these men during the time here. They come from Burma where many of the churches are doctrinally weak. I witnessed the Lord bringing understanding of Truth to a couple of these men during that time. They were willing to learn!

To tell you the truth, I would much rather teach and preach the Word of God in settings like this than labor for days on end trying to publish Bibles in a language I do not understand. However, I have learned that if there is not someone who dedicates himself to it, the work is never done. But the Lord let me have both these last days; Publishing and teaching! I was blessed by it. One of the men who I had the most one-on-one time with remarked what a blessing it was to spend the day doing what we were doing and fellowship with other men of God. He and another man proofread all day long while another one sat at the computer.

All this was going on while work continued on publishing and video editing in our Bangkok office. Please continue to hold us up in prayer. Thank you for it. We dependant Baptists; dependent on our Lord, our sponsoring Church, our intercessors, and our supporters.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Travel tomorrow
Date: 8/21/08

Dear Intercessors,
We are keenly aware of your constant faithful prayer on our behalf. One of the men from our sponsoring Church is still here with us and he will be traveling with me tomorrow morning to the Thai/Burmese border. We just loaded a 6 wheel truck with literature and household items. Lord willing we will meet it there and unload the truck tomorrow. The driver said it will take him 10 hours to get there.

This is indeed a multi-purpose trip. One of course is the moving of the literature to the border. The other involves finishing the set-up of the house, making it livable. The most pressing issue at this moment however is the re-formatting of the Burmese Gospels. It is necessary for us to have a Burmese person doing the work of checking the line and word endings as it is typeset. We have tried 3 times over the last 10 days to get this done in Burma and sent via e-mail. Each time it was done incorrectly due to rushing to get it finished.

The printing ministries in the USA are waiting for this to begin printing. We must complete it in such a way that we can say it is right. Please pray for us to quickly locate a man who can help us finish it within a couple of days.

Of course this is the value of having the house on the border; access to people who speak many of the languages of Burma. Pray as a young couple is due to arrive on September 3rd to spend a couple of months helping us establish a presence there in that facility.

Pray also concerning the Bible in Karen, the largest ethnic group in Burma. We have been burdened about this for some time but they no longer have a source for the old Bible that so many of them still use and cherish. An interest has been expressed by a couple of Churches and a printing ministry in the USA to see that Bible go into print again. Pray as we try to sort out the exact status of the Bible text, and then formulate a plan to take this in hand.

Thank you once again for your intercession and financial help. You are making a difference!

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Container, travel, need for Burmese Bibles
Date: 8/9/08

Dear Intercessors,
Thank the Lord we can report that the 38,000+ lbs. container has been unloaded at our facility! We do not know yet the final bill on the port charges, and customs, but it looks like it was done much cheaper than any in the past years. I can report exactly when the bill is settled next week. We are rejoicing.

Now that the literature is in Bangkok we start the process of trans-shipping it to various locations on borders, and throughout Thailand. Please intercede especially about the literature which will go to three international borders.

We will be traveling again Mon-Wed to Chiang Mai. On tap; appointments with translators and proofers, as well as other meetings which pertain to the publishing and distribution of literature in several languages. One of the men from our sponsoring Church will be returning to the USA on Friday morning so the trip must be done in that time even though there is a holiday in the middle of it. Pray that we will be able to accomplish all that is needed. Please pray that Gary Karle is able to carry back to the USA a burden and clear vision for the opportunities here.

Today, on the very day we unloaded the container, I received an e-mail from within Burma which stated that ALL of the materials we shipped there a month ago have now been distributed! Most of it went to the cyclone damaged delta region of Burma. These materials, Bibles and illustrated Bible stories were in the Burmese or Karen languages. Approximately one half of the victims of the cyclone were ethnic Karen.

Even with the arrival of this container, we will not have enough Burmese Bibles even to re-supply what we had sent before. Please, please pray for a supply of the Judson translation of the Burmese Bible. The need is for many tens of thousands. We have handled around 4,000 so far. Pray our Lord would raise up a supply for these. They can be used both within Thailand (2 ½ million Burmese nationals) as well as across the border (47 million).

We are working with three printing ministries in the USA as this is written to produce a clear copy of the Gospel of John and Romans for their presses. This has been typeset but must be adjusted to better fit the presses. It must be done with a Burmese man on scene due to font problems. Pray that we can get that handled in Chiang Mai. These men have a desire to print hundreds of thousands of these Gospels as well as New Testaments and possibly Bibles. Pray for these ministries as their desire is to publish the Greatest Book ever written, God's Word.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Container arrival, Hmong, Publishing
Date: 8/6/08

Dear Intercessors,
We just got word that the 40' container of literature is scheduled to clear customs on Friday afternoon, Thursday night USA time. Please pray about this. While we should have all the paperwork and import details exactly right, it is always a guessing game how the customs people will handle the shipment. It can be a difference of many thousands of dollars.

Jeff Lange and family are in the Hmong refugee camp area. We got a call from the military on Monday saying that it would be possible to distribute some used clothing that was collected from Thai churches for the Hmong. But it had to be done on Wednesday of this week. Then there is a very important meeting to which we were invited which consisted of military, the NGO's and Schools all who have been in the camp in the past. Then, Jeff was able to secure permission to meet with the Church on Sunday! Please pray for the Langes while they have been in and out of the camp now a couple of times this week and will be staying through Sunday.

I have remained in Bangkok this week awaiting word of the arrival of this container and working with the two fellas from our home church on a number of projects. We have 8 computer systems which all need software upgrading. These men have been a tremendous help with this since staying focused on it is a huge problem for me with all of the other demands on time.

A very important milestone (from my perspective anyway) was reached this past week when a Thai church gave us an offering of around $60 to be used in the publishing work; translating and printing Thai doctrinal materials! This church has recently started a missions program and has been collecting offerings for missions. Please pray for them and for other Thai churches to catch a vision for missions and more specifically, for owning the work of publishing in their own language.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Cambodia and Border area travels & Container arrival
Date: 8/03/08

Greetings Intercessors,
I want to report to you that we have returned from Cambodia as well as a three day trip to the Thai/Burmese border. In Cambodia the intended meetings went very well. A printer in Cambodia now has a book that represents over one year of effort by the translators. Please pray as 5,000 copies of this book is printed. Many are looking forward to this important tool being available to use in evangelism and discipleship. We have made some important headway in a couple of other areas concerning literature there also. More later on that.

Within two days of that trip we went to the Thai/Burmese border (6hours drive) where within just two days major headway was made in preparing the house to live in and use for a publishing office. The very day we needed funds for two separate unplanned expenses, I was notified of special offerings being given to cover it. It is such a blessing to watch the Lord work on our behalf in a situation like this. Everyone was surprised that we were able to see things which normally takes weeks to accomplish done in just two days! This is a new building so a glass front with door needed to be added. This was done as well as an air-conditioner installed and a phone line put in. Broadband internet will be hooked up in a few days!

We returned from that trip yesterday and today the container is due to arrive at the port. It will be a number of days before it is cleared from Customs and delivered to our facility. Please pray that the customs charges will not be excessive. We have never been able to predict the cost of clearing any container of literature. It depends on the agent inspecting it. We have been hit with huge fees in the past. Pray that does not happen this time.

Within a short time of that container arrival we will be hiring a truck to take some of the literature to the Thai/Burmese border. All of this takes patience and sometimes outright endurance. Please pray.

Thank you for your labor with us in prayer. We would certainly not want to undertake ministry of this sort without your involvement.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Travel to Cambodia tomorrow
Date: 7/22/08

Dear Praying Friends,
Thank you for your faithful intercession for us and for the people of South East Asia. God is opening many doors. Please keep praying for laborers.

We have two men from our sponsoring Church with us for 4-6 weeks. Gary Karle and Zachary Welborn will be traveling with me tomorrow to Cambodia, Lord willing. We are lined up to work with brethren there to finalize some publishing and printing issues in the Khmer language. One of these projects has been underway for more than one year. It will be a blessing to see it go to the printer.

Please pray for the ongoing work here in Bangkok, especially the publishing work. We experience the attacks of the Evil one on a regular basis as we try to publish the Word of God. The past couple of months have been no exception. Many delays, computer problems, and every other thing imaginable are there to distract us from the major focus of this work. It seems sometimes to be a constant struggle just to keep focused.

Within a few days of our return from this trip, we are expecting the arrival of a 40' container full of literature in Thai and Burmese. This 38,000# shipment makes the 6th one into Thailand over the past years. Praise the Lord for it! We are grateful for the many who sacrifice and pray to get the Word of God into this part of the globe. The need is great. Pray especially for Burmese Bibles. The need is overwhelming and the requests keep coming. We need many tens of thousands more than available now.

Once that container is unloaded we plan to head to the Thai/Burmese border to set up the house that we rented earlier in the month. It is a new facility and the electric is not even hooked up yet. Hopefully that will be done by the time we are ready to go there. It is such a blessing to have these two guys here for this time. They are willing to labor with their minds and hands and it is appreciated. Pray for them.

It also looks pretty certain that a young couple will be coming shortly after these guys leave and will stay a couple of months. We plan for them to stay in the new house on the Thai/Burmese border to help establish a presence for the work there. They will be able to gather much more information and build many more relationships by staying there than we will be traveling back and forth.

Thank you again for your sacrifice on our behalf. Your labor in prayer and finances is making a difference in our lives for sure!
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - July 11, 08
Date: 7/11/08

Greetings Brethren,
We need to update you concerning some publishing and other issues. We mentioned in our last update a "shop-house" on the Thai/Burmese border we were planning on renting. We did sign that contract and literally the next day we got word from one of our supporters in the in the USA that they were sending to us the entire year's rent for that house. We cannot tell you what an encouragement that was!

Our plan is to begin setting up the place with needed items which we have here in Bangkok for literature storage and living quarters. Current plans call for us to travel there at least one week out of every month. It is a 13 hour round trip which at today's fuel cost amounts to around $130 per trip. We trust the Lord will provide that as it is needed.

We also have been made aware of a number of printing ministries in the USA who plan to provide at least the following; 3,000 Burmese Bibles, 100,000 Burmese Gospels, and a large number of Burmese New Testaments. Much of this material is not printed yet so it will be a number of months before it is on the ground here in Thailand. Also, we have been in touch with a ministry that is raising funds that will allow us to print Burmese Gospels in this region. We will use a commercial print-shop for that. This will allow us to have access to these materials very quickly. Please pray for these dear brethren who are laboring to get the Word of God published for Burma.

All of this is a bit overwhelming to say the least. We thank God for it and at the same time tremble as we consider the great responsibility before us. The other work with many other countries and languages must go on, so it will be a real challenge. Please pray that we will be able to handle it according to the will of God.

Two men from our sponsoring Church are due to arrive next Thursday evening. One of them, Gary Karle is due to stay for one month and Zachary Welborn is scheduled to stay for six weeks. Our plan is to keep very busy while we have the extra help. We thank the Lord for the sacrifice they are making to come at this time. Please pray for them.

Thank you for your important part in this ministry. Please keep on praying. Every success in God's work represents a success in prayer.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Report concerning Burma
Date: 7/5/2008

(Please forgive the long report and prayer request. I have not found a way to communicate these things in a few words)

Over the past few weeks, we have asked prayer for a couple of aspects of ministry concerning the people of Burma. We trust this report to bring you up to date and you will see the need for continued prayer.

We returned early this past week from the Thai/Burmese border. We shipped 165 boxes of Burmese and Karen literature to Yangon, the former capitol of Burma. Reports from yesterday tell us of the safe arrival of that material. The Bibles and illustrated Bible story books are already being put into the hands of those who need them. A good portion of that material will end up in the Cyclone hit area of Burma. Already we have had pleas for more!

While we were on the border we met many people from Burma. In fact, somewhere around 65% of the population of that city are undocumented people of Burma origin. We have probably spoken to people representing somewhere over 12 languages of Burma in that city. We came away from that experience with a strong burden to have a presence there on a regular basis. Also brethren in the USA are preparing for some rather large quantities of literature in Burmese which will have to be stored while distributing or waiting for shipment.

We have a contract in our hands now for a new 3 story "shop-house" there. After praying about it for a few days, we have decided to go ahead and sign it by faith. I say by faith because it opens up a huge door of opportunity for which we will have to depend on the Lord to go through. The city is a 7 hour drive from Bangkok, and at this point we plan to spend around 1 week out of 4 there dealing with these different languages. With diesel fuel over $5 per gallon and the $150 per month cost of the rent it will add up quickly. However we can no longer ignore the wide open door before us. Many of the languages have only a song book and a Bible and virtually all of the Bibles have serious flaws. At least one of these languages has over 7 million speakers, not to mention the needs in Burmese.

We also asked you to pray about a pastor in Burma to whom we entrusted around $900 which was entrusted to us for relief in the cyclone hit areas of Burma. When we went there last month it became very evident that the government would not let us into the area. However, many private citizens have helped those in need. After a trip to one of the villages which has still received no aid, he used that money to purchase a large bag of rice, a gallon of cooking oil, and some vegetables for each of the 47 families in the village. It was indeed money well spent as he was also able to give believers there encouragement and tell the people that Christians in the USA and Burma cared about them.

Lastly, we have a 40' container shipment of Thai and Burmese Bibles and Scripture portions due to leave the port in California on the 10th of this month. Upon arrival, the Burmese portion of this material will undergo the same treatment that the last batch did. Praise the Lord that special funds had been given to ship these materials!

Please pray that we can get set up quickly on the Thai/Burmese border to facilitate ministry with Burmese people. Pray for the necessary funds to sustain that work for at least 1 year.

Please pray for the ongoing tragedy in Burma. Six weeks after the cyclone still hundreds of thousands of people are in need and indeed may be for a long time. There is much suffering. If you would like to help please contact us. Please pray concerning that 40' container shipment. We never know what the Customs people are going to do about duty. Pray that it can be cleared quickly and inexpensively.

So much more needs to be said, but I must close now. Thank you for your labor alongside us as you intercede. May our Lord bless and sustain you as you encourage this missionary family!
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Dear Praying Friends,
One of our Thai co-workers, Krinny, and I are traveling to the Thai/Burmese border tomorrow. It is around a 6 hour trip one way. We are carrying some literature and intend to meet with some folks who can use it and help produce more. The trip also involves possible ministry with Burmese people in the area and some other situations.

Please pray for our safety as well as sucess with the purposes of the trip. Pray that we can meet up with the right people to get the information and help we need. More about this later.

Thank you for laboring with us in prayer. We would not want to be so presumptious as to attempt some of these things without many praying.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Kayle Update 6/24
Date: 6/24/08

Kaylee is doing fine and is recovering at home. There was some buildup of fluid in the skin around the incision and some of the stitches broke loose. The fluid drained out and they did not replace the stitches, but used some kind of surgical tape instead. The only downside is that they had to shave a little more hair off, which is really no problem except to Kaylee who really wants her hair.

At any rate, the hair will grow back. Kaylee is still too young to realize how close she came to permanent damage or death. To her the whole thing is just a real inconvenience not to be able to play rough and tumble, ride her bike and do other wild and woolly things that kids do. Like the old saying goes, "Oh to be a kid again, doing what I did again." It's a wonder any of us survived childhood when you think about it.

Please keep on praying. She still has several months of recovery before she is pronounced "recovered." On behalf of Kaylee, the Johnsons and the Gaudets, thank you for your love, concern, notes of encouragement, and intercession.

If you do not have this already, the Johnsons can be reached at skidmaze@aol.com

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Hmong deported!
Date: 6/23/2008

Dear Intercessors,
On Saturday as I was driving to Phetchabun, Jeff Lange called me and said that the immediate situation with the Hmong was resolved. 700 of them had agreed to return to Laos voluntarily.

Over Saturday evening and Sunday morning, there was somewhere over 800 of the Hmong deported to Laos. Some of them were leaders of the demonstration, some were people wanted by the Lao government, and some were families who "volunteered" to return. An additional 500-600 people were locked up in area jails. The rest of the Hmong involved in the protest returned to the camp better called a detention facility. A new census is being done now but it has been estimated that the camp is around 1,500 fewer than it was.

After several frantic phone calls it became clearer what transpired. Some called from busses and trucks heading to Laos to say that they had second thoughts and did not want to go. We learned that several were hiding in the jungle. We also learned that some of the church members who were caught up in this demonstration were on their way to Laos or missing, presumed in jail.

Please pray as things get back to some semblance of normal. Other than prayer, not much can be done for those who were hastily sent back to Laos. Other than prayer, and trying to encourage the ones still here, nothing much will be able to be done for those who remain in the camp.

One bright note is that we were able to meet with about 40 of the brethren on Sunday. More wanted to meet but were hindered when they tried to leave the front gate of the camp to walk across the road to the church building. We cried with them, prayed with them, and tried to encourage them. It was an encouragement to us to realize that many had stood firm and did not participate in the protests.

It is a 5 hour drive to the refugee camp. Jeff is in Chiang Mai at present and I am in Bangkok. We have an appointment to meet with some officials on Wednesday and thus need to return then. Please pray for safety on the roads and that we might be able to have continued access to the camp.

Pray for the faithful brethren that they will remain strong. Many things are very uncertain at the moment. I cannot imagine having to live like that. It is more difficult to realize it is happening to people we know, love, and care about. Please labor with us in prayer.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - 5,000 Hmong refugees walk out of refugee camp!
Date: 6/20/2008

Please excuse the long e-mail update but you must know the background on this to pray effectively. Some things cannot be said in a few words.

More than 3 weeks ago a fire destroyed 2/3 of the Hmong refugee camp. Since there is no place for nearly 5,000 of the people to live they have spread out on a hillside across the road from the camp. The following is a few excepts from an e-mail Jeff Lange sent out to his e-mail list on Wed. evening, 18June. An update from me follows Jeff's e-mail.

---------e-mail update from Jeff Lange, 18June------------------

"...The Thai military has ordered everyone outside the gate to go back inside and rebuild. ... These [Hmong] leaders are staging protests, including hunger strikes and threatening to commit mass suicide or throw themselves down in front of passing vehicles. All this is done to try to gain world-wide attention in hopes that the [UN] will come to their rescue.

...Over the next couple weeks [after the fire], Bro. Gaudet and I have tried to offer assistance. Although [the military] asked for our help, they still blocked us from having any access [to the Hmong].

Well, for nearly a month now, the soldiers have been trying to get everyone back in to the camp, howbeit, unsuccessfully. They finally broke down and called me this morning and asked me if I would persuade the church members to go back inside. They felt that if they did, that maybe many of the others would follow them. They agreed to let me in tomorrow at 3 p.m."

----------end of quoted e-mail, update follows------------------

When Jeff arrived on Thursday afternoon, he found that the 5,000 people planned to walk out of the camp and go, by foot, to Bangkok some 300 miles away! Their plan was to walk up to the UNHCR office in Bangkok and ask for protection. At any rate, they did walk out of the camp today, (Friday) and of course, the military and police stopped them on a 2 lane road about 3 miles from the camp. They are all sitting on the road and in the ditch at this hour. (10PM)

It turned out that Jeff was going to try to get into the camp again this morning and as he drove there, he passed a contingent of soldiers who let him by. Then came face-to-face with the huge crowd of Hmong walking down the hill. As the military stopped them, he ended up in the middle between the Hmong and the soldiers! He spent the next 10 hours or so talking to both the military and Hmong, trying to help settle the situation.

Some of the church members who were caught up in all this decided to return to the safety of the camp and at this time, there are several dozen that have done so.

Jeff is going to try to get in again in the morning and I am headed there to meet him. It looks like on Sunday or Monday, we will be able to meet with the military about how to help get the people settled back into the camp. There are no houses for nearly 5,000 of the people and the military has suggested that what is needed is building materials. RLI still has some money left over from the relief we provided in the past. It could be that those funds plus some other designated money we have access to will meet the need. We think that maybe $3,500 will purchase the bamboo needed to house the refugees again in temporary shelters.

We feel like this may be the breakthrough we have prayed for; once again to have access granted to interact with and encourage the membership of NamKhao Baptist Church. Please pray for wisdom as this is dealt with. Praise the Lord for safety for Jeff in the middle of a mob of people today! Pray that the military will continue to show restraint as they try to control a very difficult situation. Pray for the membership of the church, all of whom have been traumatized by the past few days. Some have fallen by the wayside, but most have stayed firm in their faith. Pray that this situation would be the means of leading others to a saving knowledge of Christ.

It is comforting to know that many of you are praying. The next few days will be strategic. Please keep on.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Back from Burma
Date: 6/14/2008

Dear praying friends,
Please forgive this long e-mail. Thank you for praying for us as we traveled to Burma (Myanmar). Our first attempt to make this trip was on May 23. Although this had been planned for several months, due to the Cyclone Nargis our visas were refused. The missionary who was due to travel with me had to return to the USA so Jeff Lange agreed to go with me. It was necessary to make two other applications for visas over the next 10 days or so and finally they were granted on Monday of this week. Jeff and I flew to Yangon, the capitol on Wednesday. The original purpose of the trip was dealt with rapidly. I will report on that in another post. It had to do with publishing in several regional languages.

Then we turned our attention to the aftermath of the Cyclone. As many of you know, the government has refused almost all offers for help in recovering from that horrible storm. We met with a number of people in the humanitarian community and all of them said the same thing... almost all foreigners (who are experts in disaster recovery) are kept out of the worst-hit parts of the country. Some of them are allowed to send in aid and operate there but with local people as staff representatives. A steady stream of supplies has flowed into the area but not nearly enough. Only a handful of international staff have been in the area and most of them have only seen areas that the government allowed them to see.

We talked also to locals who have traveled to the worst hit area already a number of times. These people have mostly been given free access but even they are not allowed to travel to some areas. Out of their meager funds available, already many local people have taken rice, tarpaulins, building and medical supplies. One international worker told us that the locals have been helping people in the damaged area since the first day after the storm and the international relief agencies are just now starting to operate due to governmental restrictions. Still many people are without food, clean drinking water, shelter and medical care. It is said that thousands of bodies still litter the delta. Our hearts were touched as we heard of the plight of these survivors.

We tried to get official governmental permission to pass the military checkpoint into the delta region and were refused. All of the aid agencies we talked to told us it would not be possible and it turns out they were right. However as we began talking to a couple of pastors who had traveled there, we realized that the answer to us helping was to partner with them to get aid to region. I do not have any illusions to a full blown program, but I had already been given some funds with which to help and felt it my responsibility to use that money wisely.

Around US$900 was left with one of the pastors who will be traveling to the region on Monday. He has already picked out a couple of villages which have been really hard hit but not totally destroyed. Also they have received no aid since the storm one month ago. With that money he plans to buy rice for the people to eat. It seems that is the most pressing matter at this time. His idea is the same as mine, use humanitarian aid as an introduction to the community. He tried to give aid to some church members in another place and said it was a very ugly situation. Others in the community who were as needy as the Christians were very upset that they were left out.

After this information was gained there was not much else we could do there so we returned. Jeff and I were both amazed at the amount of information we uncovered in that short time. Several have asked about a way to help. I will be awaiting an update of his trip and an accounting of how the funds were spent and will pass on what we learn.

I will close for now but need to ask prayer for the Hmong brethren in the refugee camp. The next 48 hours or so is crucial to their situation. More in another e-mail on Monday, Lord willing.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Kaylee out of hospital/travel to Burma tomorrow
Date: 6/10/2008

Dear Intercessors,
Thank you for your faithful prayer for Kaylee. She was released from the hospital today. We just spoke with her on skype and she is very happy to be home. Mom and Dad are happy too! (grandparents are also, I assure you!)

Please do not stop praying about her recovery. We will periodically update you and you can get in touch with the Brian Johnson family directly at skidmaze@aol.com. They would be encouraged to hear from many who have prayed.

Jeff Lange will be traveling with me to Burma tomorrow. We are scheduled to return on Sunday morning. It has taken several trips to the Myanmar (Burma) embassy in downtown Bangkok to get these visas. We were outright refused once, then given the run-around for around 10 days. Then this time it took around 4 days for them to grant a visa. We began applying the day after Krinny and I returned from the USA on the 21st May!

While there, I have meetings with brethren lined up dealing with translation and publishing in a number of languages. However the cyclone and it's aftermath will no doubt be a big topic of discussion. We are not sure how much we will be able to see of the destruction, but while there we want to know what can and should be done to help.

Pray that we will meet the right people and see the things that our Lord wants us to see. Pray that it will be possible to know how to help and if we should in any other way besides the publishing. The Lord will have to guide us in this otherwise we will be overwhelmed I am sure. Pray for safety and good health also.

I will let you know of any developments as soon as possible. Thank you again for laboring with us in prayer.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - PTL, Kaylee going home, and Burma visas
Date: 6/9/2008

Dear Intercessors,

Kaylee healing has progressed so well that she will be going home from the hospital tomorrow, Lord willing! The neurosurgeon said that she will have to be very careful for the next couple of months, but that she should make a full recovery. He said it would take about 6 months for her to be fully back to normal activities.

Please continue to pray for her recovery. It will be hard to keep a healing and bored 6 year old quiet and out of trouble. Please pray for her parents, Brian and Lisa Johnson. They will need special grace and wisdom during this time also.

Please pray for your missionary families. We all need the prayers of God's people all the time, because no one ever knows when a situation can occur that will change everybody's life forever. This kind of thing brings home the fact that life is precious and fragile and can come to an end at any time. Tell your friends and family that you love them, because sometime may be the last time you will have the opportunity.

We will periodically update you as to her progress. I am sure that Brian will be sending out updates as well. You may want to contact him to get on their e-mail list. skidmaze@aol.com

Also on a bright note, we were able to get visas for Burma! Current plans call for us to travel there on Wednesday. Please pray for the trip and for the objectives to be reached. More later on this.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Kaylee Update and Photo
Date: 6/06/2008

Dear Intercessors,

Krinny talked to Kaylee on the telephone again today. She is completely coherent and her speech is fine. What we are waiting for now is to make sure no infection sets in. Barring any unforeseen complications, it looks like she will make a full recovery. The next month will be really hard on Lisa and Brian because they are going to have to make sure that she remains careful and takes things easy, that is after she is released from the hospital and then the therapy clinic.

She is already saying things like "I can see now, can we go home?" They let her walk around a little and wanted her to get back in bed and she said "tell the nurse to bring me a wheelchair, I want to go for a ride." Yep, she is definitely better. The swelling is going down around her eyes, but she still looks pretty bad. When she saw herself in the mirror today, she said "I look Chinese." Her eyes are open just slits, so I guess that what she meant. We are attaching a photo of her. Once again, thank you for your prayers and please don't stop praying.

It is possible that we are overfilling your e-mail boxes with these updates. However, we have learned to take intercession seriously and many of you keep writing and saying "Keep us informed so we can pray specifically." Even though Kaylee is not out of the danger zone yet, it could have been so much more serious. We praise God for that!
For Souls Still Waiting,

Subject: Gaudet Family Update
Date: 6/5/2008

Dear Intercessors,

Kaylee's condition continues to improve. She is eating heartily and wants to go to the mall for hotdogs! Krinny was able to talk with Kaylee on the telephone today and she remembers everything that happened when the swing fell and the bar hit her in the head. She says her head still hurts a little. Not surprising. She is a pretty tough kid.

She still hasn't been told that she had surgery or that her head is shaved. She wanted to see herself, so Lisa took a photo with her cell phone and showed it to her, with a warning that she had a big bandage on her head and that both eyes were swollen and dark purple. She was fairly unhappy with her appearance since being a little girl, she wants to look pretty. She took her appearance rather badly, so Lisa has decided to wait as long as possible to tell her that her head is shaved. She was trying to grow her hair long and this is going to be hard on her when she finds out that she is now totally bald on half of her head.

Please continue to pray for Kaylee. She is by no means over this and has a long way to go in recovery. Pray for Brian and Lisa as they care for her and their other two children. One of them stays at the hospital and the other at the house of a friend in the capitol city with the other two children. Please pray for us, her anxious grandparents, as we are so far away in Thailand, and unable to be there. You will never know this side of eternity how much your prayers have meant. Missionaries can tell when folks are praying and this indeed is one of those times. We know that your prayers are making a difference.

Please pray also about this latest visa application we made for Burma. It is possible that we will hear back from them on tomorrow. The military regime is not letting many in during this time.

Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Kaylee after Surgery
Date: 6/4/2008

Dear Intercessors,
Kaylee's condition is improving. She is much more responsive today. Lisa said she was asking all sorts of questions, like, "Why are my hands tied to the sides of the bed? Why are my feet tied to the sides of the bed? What is covering my eye so I cannot open it?" This was a very good sign. They had her hands and feet tied to the sides of the bed so she could not pull at the various tubes and IV lines.

She looks terrible as a result of the surgery. Both eyes are swollen shut, but they say this is normal. She also ate a little breakfast this morning - oatmeal. This is the first time she has been able to eat since the accident on Saturday evening. Now she wants hotdogs! There was no signs of a fever this morning. They moved her from the ICU to a room on the trauma floor this morning and removed most of the tubes. She is by no means "out of the woods," so please continue to pray for her full recovery. But Brian and Lisa are encouraged and of course grandparents in Thailand are also!

It is amazing how many folks have written saying that they are praying. Since Brian and Lisa are at the hospital and somewhat removed from the internet several folks even from Brian's e-mail list have asked to be put on this one.

As most of you know, this list is usually used to ask prayer for and report on the Lord's work through the Gaudet family. If you ever wish to unsubscribe from this list, just use the link at the bottom of this e-mail. Thank you for your labor in prayer. It is comforting to know that so many are interceding.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Surgery for Kaylee
Date: 6/3/2008

Dear Intercessors,
This morning the neurosurgeon decided that Kaylee was not responding to the medications well enough to continue without surgery. They operated on her at 11am. The procedure involved removing a section of the skull and then cleaning out the blood which had collected between the brain and the skull.

She is just coming out of recovery and the Dr seems to think that everything will be OK with her. She will be in intensive care for the next day or so while they observe her. Tomorrow another CAT scan will be done and then more will be known. Please do not stop praying!

Many of you have written or called. Your expression of concern and intercession is very comforting to Brian and Lisa and of course to these anxious grandparents (Krinny and me!) halfway around the globe. From what the Dr said, we expect that she may be in the hospital for around 10 days then maybe in a therapy clinic for a while after that depending on how she heals.

You may wish to contact the Johnsons directly. skidmaze@aol.com Thank you again, we are humbled by your care.

(For those of you who are getting this as a forward or otherwise lacking the background on this matter - Kaylee Johnson, (our 6 year old granddaughter) had a metal pipe fall and make a glancing blow to her head while playing. She was taken to the children's hospital in Vilinus, Lithuania where she had surgery today to relieve pressure on her brain due to bleeding. Brian and Lisa Johnson have been missionaries in Lithuana for the past 10 years.)

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Prayer requested for Granddaughter
Date: 6/1/08

Dear Intercessors,
Please pray for our granddaughter, Kaylee Johnson. Our daughter's family, the Brian Johnsons are missionaries to Lithuania. They called yesterday and told us that Kaylee (6) had a pipe or something fall on her head while playing outside. She went home and laid down, but when she woke up she was vomiting and disoriented.

The medical system in Lithuania is pretty poor and after phone calls to the private clinic in the capitol, and a short visit to the local hospital it was decided that she would remain at home and await morning when everything was open. She grew worse in the night and she was taken to the large government hospital in the capitol. A CAT scan shows a skull fracture and bleeding, causing swelling and pressure on her brain.

She is under observation for now and in the morning a decision will be made as how to deal with her unless she gets worse in the night. If that happens, an operation will be necessary to drain the fluid.

Please pray for her. Pray for Brian and Lisa as they deal with these things. We are anxious grandparents I assure you. We are so blessed to have great medical care here in Thailand.

Please keep on praying for the Hmong in Phetchabun. Nothing else has developed except for continued pressure on them. Many are still exposed to the elements and without possessions they lost in the fires.

Pray also about us getting into Burma. We were turned down for visas 10 days ago. I am heading back to the embassy this morning to try it again.

We are humbled to know that many take seriously the need for prayer. Thank you.

Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Udate Hmong and Burma
Date: 5/23/2008

Dear Intercessors,
Hmong: Jeff Lange received several frantic phone calls from within the Hmong population of the refugee camp in Huay Nam Khao today. These all reported a mass uprising of the refugees which included breaking down some of the fence which kept them inside. Within a few minutes we heard that there was smoke inside the camp. It seems that someone, (not clear who yet) set fire to several of the huts inside the camp complex. Many huts were destroyed along with everything in them. The residents of the camp begin to gather at the NamKhao Baptist Church building across from the camp. As we understand it, several hundred folks are without homes tonight and are staying in the Church buildings.

All this happened while Steve Zeinner and I were still in town. Jeff immediately jumped in his vehicle and drove the 5 hours to the camp where he was turned away by the military. The soldiers said to return tomorrow morning to see about getting into the camp at that time.

Meanwhile many are without homes and uncertain about their future. Please pray for them, especially the brethren. Pray that the believers will be able to stand strong even in their loss and minister to others during this time.

Jeff will try to secure access to them tomorrow morning. I am trying to get permission to take some relief supplies and open the door in that manner. It is possible that a trip there to facilitate this will be needed even tomorrow.

Burma: We did go to the Burmese Embassy early this morning and after filling out all of the paperwork we were told that to issue visas now would require two weeks and some paperwork which we are probably not able to obtain. The reality of it is that we will not be going inside Burma for the immediate future.

The secretary of the UN who visited Burma today says that the regime has cleared aid groups to come in. If indeed that is possible, then it should be easier to get in. Please pray for this situation and the hundreds of thousands who are without basic needs today.

Of course we were unable to meet with the brethren there to discuss what we could do to give them the Word of God. Much is at stake. Please pray!

Much more needs to be done concerning Burma. We hope to get started on some of it tomorrow since we now know that we are not able to travel there.

Please pray.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Return to Thailand & Burma plans
Date: 5/17/2008

Dear Intercessors,
Thank you for your continued prayer for our family during the time we have been in the USA. The travels here are over having spanned meetings and travel in 13 states. We have additional support and believe that more will result from the trip. Please keep praying toward that end. It has been an incredible blessing to visit with friends and family and to spend time in our own Church. We thank the Lord for the opportunity.

We depart for Thailand on Tuesday, 20 May. Arrival is at midnight on the 21st and the next day at midnight I am to meet a missionary coming in from Korea. We will be heading to the Burmese Embassy the next morning to ask for visas to enter the country. Please pray that we will be able to get permission to travel there. This trip has been planned for several months. Plans were already in place concerning literature, but those might have to be laid aside as we look into helping brethren there after the cyclone.

I would like to ask you to pray specifically for another aspect of the trip. From the contacts we have in the country, we have a very good idea of what we will face. We will not be able to travel to the area hardest hit by the cyclone. However, the former capital, Yangon was hit pretty hard and many people have suffered. We are certain to be faced with huge needs for humanitarian aid especially for the brethren there. It will be very hard to see the needs and not be able to help much. Already we have heard that some church members have died of disease and hunger.

I practice the indigenous principle in missions. That is, I never pay for church buildings or salaries for pastors. We teach churches to depend on the Lord the same way we do. However, this is a very different situation. In the New Testament we see even the church in Jerusalem was recipient of aid from other churches.

We will need wisdom as we deal with this matter. It will be very hard to know who to help and how to go about it. We have approximately $1,000 to take with us at this time. However, if we did not want to face this we would not go. We must be willing to be led of the Holy Spirit. Where the Lord directs, He provides.

  • Please pray for the Gaudets as we travel back to Thailand.
  • Pray for the trip for missionary Steve Zeinner and me as we try to get into Burma.
  • Pray that we can fulfill the original purpose for this trip dealing with literature publishing.
  • Pray that we can be led of the Holy Spirit to see how to help these people.

It is comforting knowing that you will pray for us during these times. May God lead you as you pray.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Burma Follow-up
Date: 5/10/2008

Dear Intercessors,
In our last update about Burma we laid out situations as we knew them and told you about some preparation of literature which was already underway before the cyclone this past week.

We had several replies to that e-mail and would like to quickly bring you up to date.

  1. At this point we are aware of enough funds on the way to pay for the next container shipment which will have in it 4,000 Burmese Bibles as well as literature in three other languages.
  2. We told you about Burmese literature sitting on the border in Thailand. These Bibles and illustrated Bible story books have been awaiting funds to move them across the border. From phone calls we have had now it appears that need will be taken care of as soon as we find out the exact price.
  3. We even have some contacts from churches who have expressed interest in helping with ANY ministry we find opportunities for in Burma, including relief.
  4. We have also had offers of print runs of Burmese literature from some of the printing ministries here in the USA.

Praise the Lord! All this will have to be looked into when we arrive.

Please continue to pray for the survivors of the cyclone. Aid has just now started to slowly reach some of them. The military government is not exactly helpful to those who wish to help their people. The survivors took a back seat to a vote which was held yesterday nationwide. There is even talk of some of the relief aid being diverted.

Please pray also for our planned trip into Burma. We have no idea at this point if the government will issue visas, or if we will be able to find the men we intend to meet. No communication with them to this point. We had an agenda already which I suspect will take a back seat to the immediate needs. Pray that we can learn what can be done and if there is possibility of working in the country.

We also have a load of illustrated Bible Story books in the Karen language (largest Ethnic group in Burma) in Bangkok. That must be moved to the border. All these things will need to be done immediately upon return to Thailand.

Thank you for praying. We cannot imagine trying to undertake ministry in these key areas without friends like you interceding and standing with us.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Burma
Date: 5/7/2008

You are already aware of the horrible damage to Burma by the storm earlier in the week. As it stands now, over 20,000 have been killed and around 40,000 more or missing or unaccounted for. There is huge need for international aid but the military government of Burma is still considering how to issue visas for workers to enter the country. Aid is trickling in (mostly through Thailand) and it will only be a trickle until they give full permission for aid workers to get through the visa and immigration process. News reports paint a horrid picture of the situation and warn of many more deaths as starvation and disease take over.

As many of you know, Krinny and I are still in the USA as this is written. We are scheduled to depart for Thailand on the 20th of May. The reason that date was set (many months ago) was that I am to pick up a missionary flying in from Korea on the 22nd and we were to be at the Burmese embassy the next morning to obtain visas. From there our plans were to enter Burma on the 24th to meet with some brethren, dealing with issues concerning publishing, etc. This storm obviously changes things.

We have been unable to contact these men but we are still planning to go ahead. If we get through the visa process we hope to find the men, but either way we want to see what can be done to minister at this time.

On the Thai/Burmese border at this moment we have around 4 tons of Bibles and illustrated Bible story books in Burmese. We have also around 1 ½ tons of illustrated books in the Karen language in Bangkok. We already planned to move these from Bangkok to the border when we returned from this trip. Also, awaiting funds for shipping from the USA now is around 4,000 more Burmese Bibles. On top of these we have been working with the men in Burma on the translation of several more publications and an evangelistic video script in a couple of languages.

With all that as background, let me ask you to continue to pray:

  1. For the Burmese people and especially the Christians as they try to recover from this storm. Pray for the military government to open up to foreign aid to allow their people to be helped. So far, they are the reason that very little aid has arrived.
  2. Pray for the ability for us to actually get into Burma during the time mentioned above.
  3. Pray that we could make contact with the brethren that we know there.
  4. Pray that we could meet the right people and learn how ministry might be possible during this crisis.
  5. Pray that it would be possible to move the literature across the border. Funds will be needed but I have no idea how much at this point. Also, we are short around $4,500 to be able to ship the container from the USA with the remainder of the Burmese Bibles in it.

Once again, we come asking you to intercede because we are in over our heads. He is able and willing to prepare, lead, provide for, and equip those who want to serve Him. May we be found in that condition.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Brethren,

Just a short intro to forward this e-mail on to those of you who are not on the mailing list for the Lange's Latest updates. They just returned from the Hmong refugee camp. In spite of all the difficulties that the Hmong refugees experience, they are going on for the Lord and rejoicing in it! PTL!

Our Lord knew exactly what He was doing when He entrusted His Church with the Great Commission. May we not be guilty of the Great Omission!

Hmong BaptismThank you for praying for our travels to the Hmong refugee camp and back. True to their word, the military officials did let us into the camp yesterday. We had a sweet and wonderful time of fellowship with the church members. They also got an opportunity to meet Joel and Holly Warchol. Lord willing, they will get an opportunity to spend a lot more time with them in the near future.

Since moving to the new location back in June, the church was not allowed to go down to the river to do baptisms. Hmong engineering never ceases to amaze me. The church cleared a space the size of a cattle trough near the only water spigot located next to the church. They dug out some of the dirt and then walled it in with wood slats. They lined it with a tarp and started filling it to create a small baptismal tank. Yesterday, they surprised us and after the service, 47 people were baptized (19 adult men and 28 adult women)! Praise the Lord, that despite the difficult situations these brethren face, they are still moving forward for the Lord!

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Meetings in the USA
Date: 4/8/2008

Thank you for your intercession for us as we now have been in the USA for almost a month. Just 6 weeks left before we return to Thailand. Most of the meetings are in churches which do not yet support us. Please pray that the travels would be safe and that the purpose of this trip would be realized.

We need not only to raise some new support but also raise awareness of a couple of projects. We want to expand the translation/publishing work in the Thai language. There is very little in print when it comes to sound doctrinal material. Also there is not even a concordance for the Bible being used. We want to see these things dealt with and need to hire a second translator to facilitate it. Also we are in need of replacing some equipment before we return to Thailand. We also need to ship another container and must raise the funds for that. At any rate, please pray for these matters. God can provide in ways we cannot even imagine.

Work goes on in Thailand with our co-workers in the office every day. This next week is the largest holiday in Thailand and the office will be closed. Many Thai people will travel to their birth place to visit family during this time. Please pray for our Thai co-workers as they join the exodus from Bangkok during this time. Many are killed each year on the highways during these holidays.

Krinny and Myra Noel have been in Temple, TX for the past 6 days helping care for Mrs. Francis Martin as she is recovering from surgery after a fall. We thank the Lord that they were available to help in whatever way possible. I had meetings in the area this past Sunday so have been there also. We begin traveling again on Friday. Please pray for Mrs. Martin. She broke her ankle in three places and had to have surgery to repair it.

Till next time, let me say again Thank You for your part with us. We are blessed beyond measure with your concern.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Prayer Requested for Theresa Lange
Date: 03/21/08

Dear Intercessors,
We would like to request prayer for Theresa Lange. Friday night she was admitted to the hospital due to bleeding. She had a small procedure done as follow-up after her miscarriage. She is expected to be fine in a few days, but for now she is in the hospital in Bangkok for rest and observation. I know Jeff and Theresa would appreciate your prayers at this time.

If you would like to contact them, you can email them at langes@vfmsea.com.

Brethren,
We arrived safely in Fort Worth on March 8, and I left for Colorado on the 10th. Krinny joined me after a few days rest and we have been in several meetings already. We leave the Denver area tomorrow morning for Pueblo, Colorado until the 28th when we will return to Fort Worth.

From that point on, I will be traveling by myself. Krinny will remain in Fort Worth. During this 10 week period that we are in the USA, it looks like we will be in a total of 12 "new" churches - those which do not yet support us, as well as a handful of supporters. We are amazed at the interest as this trip has come together. Please pray for these meetings.

While we are in the USA my cell phone number is: 682-365-6864. Several of our supporters have asked for a current photo of us. This has been posted on our website and can be downloaded by clicking here. Photo

Also on the website is now the newest of our videos, completed just as we left Thailand. It has just been mailed to those on our video mailing list. If you wish to view this video go to or website gaudetfamily.org and click on Videos, then click on The White Through the Darkness. If you wish to have a DVD of this video, just write and one will be sent to you at no cost.

Thank you for your intercession on our behalf. We have not missed the fact that our schedule has come together so effortlessly. The only reason for this from our perspective is that the way has been prepared before us. Thank you for praying!

Please pray also for our co-workers in Thailand who are faithfully laboring while we are away. We are in daily contact with them and things seem to be going full-steam-ahead.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update – One week to go!
Date: 3/01/08

Dear Intercessors,
Krinny and I are preparing for our trip to the USA, mistakenly reported in our last e-mail update as March 28-May 18. Actually the date is March 8-May 20. As you see, that date of departure is coming up real quick. We also have a pastor and wife from Wyoming here with us now until the day before we depart.

We arrive in Fort Worth on Saturday, March 8, and I leave for meetings in Colorado on Monday, March 10! We would covet your prayers as we have meetings in CO, WA, PA, TX, LA, MO, IN, OH and KY during those 10 weeks. I am quite sure it will go quickly.

There is a lot going on here which will continue while we are away. We have been preparing so that the workload will not be made worse because we are not here. Not only will the publishing work continue on several fronts during that time, printing will be done in Thailand, the Philippines, and China.

Please pray for the brethren of NamKhao Baptist Church and the Hmong people in general. The missionaries have been kept out of the refugee camp area by the military for the past couple of weeks. We found out why on the 27th of Feb. That evening 11 people were taken out of the camp and sent back to Laos. Many of the people are beside themselves with concern that they will be the next taken. We do not know how this situation will affect future access to them.

Just before I sent this, Bro. Lange had a call from one of the Church leaders and then he sent the following which speaks for itself.…
“I just received word that around 200 Thai soldiers has just arrived at the refugee camp. After what happened 3 nights ago, everyone is very scared about a large contingent of Lao Hmong being sent back to Laos against their will. I assured the church leaders that I would send an email to Christians in America and ask you to pray.”

We just posted a new prayer letter on our website. It is being printed and will be mailed soon but I thought that I might give you the link where you can read it now, online. Here is that link http://gaudetfamily.org/PrayerLetters/2008/March2008a.pdf

We appreciate your prayers for our upcoming travels and for our co-workers who will faithfully labor here while we are away.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update – Traveling...
Date: 2/17/08

Dear Praying Friends,
I will be traveling to Manila, Philippines in the early morning hours of Monday and return to Bangkok on Wednesday evening. This short trip concerns some printing and publishing issues in a number of languages of the Philippines.

I would appreciate your prayers as I meet with commercial publishers and printers and also with some Brethren there. Some of these meetings could not be worked out ahead of time and we need to have the right connections with the right people to make the trip effective. Please pray.

Pray also for the ongoing work here. Our co-workers will be busy all week with publishing and translating. Krinny is preparing for our upcoming trip to the USA, March 8 – May 18. We are also preparing for a visit from a pastor and his wife from the USA. They leave Thailand two days before we depart for the USA. We are also trying to finalize a video before we leave. It will be taken to the USA where we will duplicate and send it out. We have much to do I assure you.

Thank you once again for your faithful intercession. I assure you, we would not want to do what we are attempting to do without you standing with us in prayer.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Gaudet Family Update - Feburary 9, 2008
Date: 1/9/2008

Dear Intercessors,
Work on several fronts has kept us extremely busy in the past two weeks;

We have two new Thai co-workers and they are quickly getting up to speed with the publishing work here. One of them is a young lady who is quickly learning the graphics work. The other is a man who has worked professionally as a translator. A tremendous need here in Thailand is for solid doctrinal material. We have started him translating an entire Bible Institute curriculum. It will have far-reaching impact many years in the future as men are trained for the ministry and also be used to strengthen the churches now. Please pray for Nakhorn and Ruth as they learn and work alongside Pook, Psalm and Krinny.

Krinny and I are booked for travel on March 8 to the USA for a 10 week trip. Of course a lot has to be done quickly before we leave. Jeff Lange has offered to facilitate the ongoing work here while we are gone. I will still be doing most of the communication with translators in other countries, and now with our office staff and Jeff via e-mail while we are in the USA.

A quick trip to the Philippines is planned between now and the time we head back to the USA. While we are away, printing will be done in China, Thailand and the Philippines, as well as the publishing work in many other languages being done daily from our office in Thailand.

Please pray for all of the preparation for us leaving. We are trying to cover the bases so that our co-workers are able to keep on as efficiently as when we are here. Before we travel we are also trying to finish up a video about Adoniram Judson and the Burmese Bible!

Pray also for the scheduling of meetings in the USA for this brief visit. Lord willing, we will be in several new churches as well as a few meetings with our supporters. We leave Thailand at the end of a visit from a Pastor and his wife from Wyoming, and return one day before hosting a missionary who is traveling here to deal with publishing in the region.

God is at work and we surely do not wish to leave it at this time. The declining dollar and rapidly expanding work make it needful. This is from someone who planned to stay in Thailand for 1 year - 3 ½ years ago!!! At any rate, we covet your intercession on our behalf.

Gaudet Family Update - Possible Trip to USA
Date: 1/31/2008

Dear Intercessors,
Thank you for your faithful prayers on our behalf. Things seem to be going forward on all fronts, albeit slowly. At the same time, we are seeing some things prayed for and focused on for the past couple of years come to fruition. God is faithful!

We have sensed the need to make a trip back to the USA for some time now. As you know, we are primarily based in the USA and make these forays into other countries as needed. When we came to Thailand it was for around 1 year. That was over three years ago!! Thailand and regional countries for us have proven to be the biggest challenge and the greatest blessing at the same time.

However, we are planning at present to make a two month trip to the USA. One of our goals for this trip will be to visit some churches whose Pastors have communicated with us about the possibility of support. That is a great need at present and one which we will focus on. Of course time will be limited but if possible we we want to make time for reporting to some of our faithful supporters also. If you are interested and the time frame is right please contact us. We would ask for your prayers as we work through these details including the work here to be handled while we are away. Publishing the Word of God must go on! There will be some short trips to regional countries needed before the departure date also.

It is short notice but we have a window of opportunity between commitments here which allows us to plan for March 8 - May 19 in the USA. Please pray about these details.

Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Gaudet Family Update – Paul Martin Home going

Dear Intercessors,
We want to let you know that Paul Martin, son of Missionary Milton and Frances Martin passed away on Tuesday morning, Jan 29 at around 9am at his home in Wichita, KS.

Word of the arrangements will be announced in the next few days. The family has requested no flowers, rather contributions to a special fund in memory of Paul to be used for Bibles for Missions. Details of that will be forthcoming.

I am sure you will be able to monitor http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/paulmartin and if I get details, will forward them on to you. Please continue to pray for the family.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Prayer for Martin Family Requested
Date: 1/23/2008

Dear Intercessors,
We are so grateful to know a request like this can be brought before you. We know many of you will stand with the Martin family in prayer. Please read on.

Paul Martin, son of Missionary Milton Martin was diagnosed with cancer early last year and has undergone two surgeries, chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant, and several other procedures in an attempt to stop the cancer from spreading. Within the last couple of days it has become evident that the cancer has taken over and the doctors have told the family he only has a couple of weeks before the disease claims him.

Please pray for Paul and his family during these days. He is 48 years old, with a wife and three teenaged children. They live in Wichita, KS.

Pray also for the entire Martin family, especially for Milton and Frances Martin. Mrs. Martin is in very poor health and is unable to travel. Milton was called home a couple of days early from a trip to Mexico upon news of Paul's deteriorating condition. This has been very hard on them. I know they would appreciate your intercession at this time.

Beth Lott (sister) is traveling from Guatemala now. The other members of the family live in Texas.

Please keep this dear family before the Throne of Grace. They mean a great deal to the Gaudet family. As I said, it is a comfort to know you will be praying.
You can read more information about Paul at caringbridge.org. He has just written an update.

Gaudet Family Update - Travel...
Date: 1/13/2008

Dear Intercessors,

Please pray as Krinny and I head to Seoul, Korea the early morning hours of Jan 15th. We plan to be there until the 18th. This trip is needful to work out some details of a couple of publishing and printing projects. Please pray as we deal with the translators, printers and some men who can be directly involved in distribution.

We are going from the low 80's to around 25 degrees Fahrenheit. Neither of us had winter clothes here with us. It was quite comical trying to buy winter clothes in Thailand. Believe it or not, you can buy huge parkas and other items, but alas, very few in "American size."

Work goes on here in Thailand while we are away. In fact we have never been busier. Pray for our co-workers as they labor here and for us as we travel. Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer on our behalf.

For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet
