Date: 7/10/2010
We felt it needful to update you concerning the work here. Let me say first however, that I am much improved from the injury to my arm. I had no idea that nerve damage could be so debilitating. However, I am able to do just about everything needed now, with mild pain and numbness. I am so grateful to the Lord that it was not worse!
Please pray for us as we start work next week on a short video update. This should give a graphic view of the ongoing work underway here. Over the years we have learned the great the impact that photo and video can have to get a message across. In fact, one of our long-term (4 years) local co-workers has expressed a real interest in learning photography. I hope I am not presumptuous in asking if anyone has a second hand DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses which might be available at a reasonable cost. It would be a blessing to get a good price on one as equipment such as this is expensive here.
Please keep on praying about the upcoming shipment from the USA with over 40,000# of Bibles, New Testaments, scripture portions and tracts, all in Burmese. We are responsible for the cost of receiving the container and transshipping the materials into strategic locations for distribution.
I am now awaiting a visa for India. Lord willing, as soon as that comes in a trip will be made there to work with brethren concerning publishing in the local languages. What a need there is in that vast land. Please pray for wisdom.
Brethren, thank you for your labor alongside us in intercession. You make all the difference I assure you.

Brethren,
Several have inquired concerning progress here with the work and with my recovery from injury and 2 surgeries. First let me say how grateful I am for your continued intercession. We surely would not want to attempt ministry of such scope and in such a place without the faithful intercession of God's people!
Recovery from the nerve damage done to my arm has taken a very long time. I still am not free of pain in my hand but it is much better. The biggest problem besides discomfort is that typing is very difficult. That will improve, Lord willing! Please keep praying.
Several projects have been brought to completion over these past days. We are excited to see the first S'gaw Karen booklet on Eternal Security in proofing stage now. How greatly this precious doctrine is needed among the Karen Christians. Pray as we begin translation in this language of some studies aimed at evangelism. Several other publications in Burmese are nearly finished also.
Several offerings have come in specifically for the container arrival and trans-shipment of Burmese Scriptures. This is the portion of the cost that we are responsible for concerning this next container. There is still a huge need. If you want more information please contact me. I hope to share with you later the huge investment that has already been made by brethren in the USA who have raised the funds and printed the 40,000# container of Burmese scriptures.
I must make at least two international trips which were in planning stage when i was injured almost 2 months ago. Please pray that these plans come together. Jeffry and Sarah Evans are scheduled to arrive in mid-August. April Wilson, a lady from our sponsoring Church who has served in Thailand with us before will be arriving approximately the same time as the Evans family. We are all excited about these folks coming. Jeffry will be a great traveling companion as well as other areas of ministry. I do not wish to travel alone.
I must close now. Thank you again for standing with our family and co-workers against the evil one. God's Word is going forth on several fronts and in several languages. We praise
Him and thank you for the opportunty to be part of it!

Brethren,
The recovery from my injury and surgery has progressed well since our last update. I am still taking pain medication, but am much improved. Every day it is better and I am mostly functional. My dear wife and our faithful staff have made it possible for me to get the rest and time for recovery. How blessed I am! Thank you for praying, please continue!
We are awaiting word any day about the shipment of a 40,000# container from the USA. When it arrives, we will need to handle the details along with the cost of delivery and clearing it from customs. Most of the contents will then need to be trans-shipped on to other strategic locations along and across borders. We estimate this to cost somewhere around $8,000.00. We currently have around $2,000.00 on hand. Please pray.
Now that the huge project of re-typesetting the Burmese Bible has been completed, we have turned to completing several publications already translated into Burmese. As soon as the typesetting and layout is finished, they will be posted on our website, www.resourcesformissions.org. We have recently given other publications to translators in a number of languages.
We cannot express what a blessing it is to know so many are standing with us in prayer and finances. I assure you, it is evident when the prayer cover is not in place. We do not want to try to minister without it. Thank you!

Brethren,
Please excuse this hastily written update. My surgery went as planned on Saturday afternoon. The surgeon said he was able to repair the damage to the nerve in my elbow/forearm. However, after the surgery pain persisted. I spent until today, Wednesday in the hospital mostly to deal with pain. It was necessary to undergo large doses of painkillers. The Dr. said that the damage was repaired but in my case it may be weeks before the pain is gone. We are not sure about the numbness in one finger.
Please pray that we can control the pain with oral medication from home. It will be necessary to go to the border on Friday so that visas can be renewed.
Thank you for praying. Several have called and written. We have even received special offerings to help pay the medical expenses. I cannot express how grateful we are for the concern you have.
We thank the Lord for our staff of dedicated co-workers. They were faithful at the work while I was out. We are most blessed of the Lord. Among other important work, the disk for printing the Judson version of the Burmese Bible was sent to the printers yesterday! PTL!

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Additional Surgery needed
Date: 5/18/10
Brethren,
We learned today that additional surgery will be required to repair nerve damage caused by the accident two weeks ago. I have been in constant pain in my hand and wrist even though the wound was in the elbow/forearm area. After several physicians and referrals, a specialist has said a microsurgical procedure would be the only way to repair the nerve. When the original surgery was done, there was so much blood loss that it stopping it became the priority.
I must make a previously planned trip to Singapore tomorrow and return on Friday morn. The surgery is scheduled for Saturday afternoon. If all goes well, I should be released on Monday.
Please pray about the trip to Singapore. I am on some heavy doses of pain killers and sometimes it affects me badly. Pray that I can get done what is needed in the short time there. Pray that the additional surgery fixes the injury to the nerve.
This comes at a bad time financially as we have not yet recovered from the move. God is in control. Thank you for praying however.
By the end of this week, the typesetting for the Judson version of the Burmese Bible should be completed and the file sent to the printers in the USA. Please pray for the brethren who have committed to printing and shipping these Bibles, New Testaments, and Gospels. We are now awaiting a shipping date for a 40,000# container. With the Lord's provision several other shipments will follow!

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Thailand Unrest
Date: 5/15/10
Brethren,
Please pray for the people of Thailand during these days. I could go into a lengthy explanation, but suffice it to say that protests from the rural poor in the commercial area of Bangkok has once again escalated into violence as the authorities try to disband them. These protests have literally shut down a couple of the busiest commercial areas in the city since March. Thousands of shops have been shut down as well as major hotels which service the tourist trade.
Since Thursday, two dozen people have died and hundreds have been injured. In addition to the authorities taking action, counter protests in the past have resulted in sporadic violence. The fear now is that this will escalate into all-out civil war.
Some of the protests have taken place in several other Thailand cities including where we live now, Chiang Mai. These are mostly peaceful but who knows what could happen if a all-out crackdown starts. We are far from the conflict area at this point and have no intention of going there.
Just about the time we moved from Bangkok is when the first of the violence started. About 2 weeks after we moved, the protesters set up a road block using a hijacked bus on the main highway just in front of the street where we were living. That was 25 miles from the current protest site. As I said, we are safe, but please pray about this situation. Most Thai people are ambivalent but just want to get on with their lives.
If you are interested in knowing more about the situation, you can easily find it on news sites on the web.
Also, let me update you on recovery from my injury two weeks ago. The incision has healed nicely, but I am still having significant nerve-related pain in my forearm and hand. It is debilitating at times. I am scheduled to return to the Dr. on Monday to see about it. Please pray for full recovery. Pain medication really makes me drowsy.
We praise the Lord that we are in His hands. I know of no safer place to be than where He wants us. We are very grateful for your intercession however. God can and does use you.

Brethren,
I want to thank you for your intercession and for the many expressions of concern we have received via e-mail and phone. How comforting it is to know so many are behind us in prayer.
The wound on my arm is healing well. Stitches were removed yesterday. The numbness I felt in two of my fingers has progressed and regressed at the same time. One of them now is free of the numbness, but the other one, along with much of that hand is very painful at this point. It is not near the wound; rather a referred pain that the Dr. said was nerve damage. He said there is a possibility that I will never be free of that pain or numbness. Only time will tell.
Please continue to pray about this. How we thank the Lord the injury was not worse. Please pray for full recovery from it. Only the Lord can perform healing in that manner.
This has really slowed me down for the past week. We thank the Lord for faithful co-workers who continue on with the work. How we appreciate you standing with us. We are blessed beyond measure.

Brethren,
I am grateful for God's protection and provision today! I know many of you heard about an accident I had on Monday evening. I was just released from the hospital this afternoon.
On Monday evening in our house in Chiang Mai I tripped over one of the last boxes yet to unpack from our move. Trying to recover from the stumble I toppled into the glass closet door and it broke. A large, deep gaping wound on my forearm was the result of that. Of course it bled immediately but much worse because I am taking blood thinners.
Surgery was necessary due to muscle and nerve damage. The biggest factor however was blood loss and potential for more. I spent the first night in ICU then another on a ward. I was released today after 7 units of plasma to replace lost blood and increase the clotting factor.
I asked the Dr how many stitches he put in and he said, "Oh, so many, did not count." The surgery went well and a repair to muscle was done. We are not sure about nerve damage yet as there was a lot of swelling. I do have numbness in two fingers now. I am due to return to the hospital every day for dressing changes.
We have received many expressions of concern via e-mail and calls. We are grateful for each of you, our faithful co-workers, and several missionary families here who have offered encouragment and help. We do appreciate your continued intercession for healing. Thank you so much.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Bro. Tom injured
Date: 5-04-2010
Brethren,
This email is copied from an email Mrs. Gaudet sent home concerning Bro. Tom Gaudet's injury yesterday...
-------
I just left the hospital. Tom had surgery last night to repair his arm. It was cut below the elbow on the inside almost to the bone. There was massive bleeding because of the blood thinners he is taking for his heart. They gave him several pints of blood plasma and he was in ICU over night because of the bleeding. The doctor was able to repair the damage and we hope there was no nerve damage, but that will remain to be seen.
As to the accident itself: the doors to our closets are glass. He stumbled into one of the doors last night and it broke and he fell thru it and that is how he was injured. He could have easily been killed because of the blood thinners. God is good and he should make a full recovery. I will let you know more as I know more.

Thank you for your prayers on their behalf.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - The "Big Move"
Date: 5/01/2010
Brethren,
Please forgive the length of this report about the move to Chiang Mai. Before we undertook it we knew at least three things about moving here:
1 It would be a challenge moving existing offices and housing.
2 It would be expensive.
3 We knew it would prove to be a strategic move in many ways.
Indeed all three proved accurate. It was indeed a challenge; terminating the contracts on houses and office, securing trucks to move, packing... then finding suitable office/housing/storage in Chiang Mai.
Indeed, it also proved to be expensive. We knew about most of the costs, but it was those portions that we did not know about that got our attention! In the end, we went over the estimated cost by nearly 2X. It was also necessary to buy an additional vehicle because transportation is more challenging here than in Bangkok. We are very grateful for churches in the USA who helped us with special offerings to make the move and buy a car! We now have a "new" car, a 14 year old Honda! Anyway, it will work nicely for our needs. Please pray as we attempt to sell our light weight passenger van and find a heavier duty vehicle for road trips and hauling people.
The value of the move in the long term has only just begun to be evident. We have access to language helpers that we never dreamed of in Bangkok. As we put the word out what we were looking for, we have actually had to turn two of them away for now until we see where our finances are after fully setting up things. We now have two new locally based co-workers in the office daily.
One matter which was a concern to us is additional housing and transportation for Jeffry and Sarah Evans. They plan to come for at least one year sometime this summer. We were envisioning having to locate another house and outfit it then do something about transportation. Meanwhile, we heard about a missionary leaving the country for two years and she was looking for someone to sub-lease her house. We looked at it and immediately told her we would take it! It is a beautiful, fully furnished place which includes the use of her car for the two years. The price was lower than what we paid in Bangkok for a similar house. $160 per month! What a God we serve! He knows our needs when we only know to fret about something.
At this writing, men are in the office installing wiring and moving the server into a permanent location. Everything should be 100% by the end of next week. Work goes on in several languages, fully set up or not.
Thank you for praying. We are blessed to have God's people standing with us in these things. The possibilities are endless.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Full schedule resumes on Monday!
Date: 4/17/2010
Greetings from Thailand!
We had one full week in the office after getting moved and set up. Then all last week it was shut down due to the largest holiday in the Thai year! Also since we have arrived in Chiang Mai last month, we have had visitors from the USA. A couple from Texas on a survey trip to Thailand spent three days here with us. Then, last week during the holiday, Pastor Robert Sargent from Oak Harbor, WA was here.
Both were a great encouragement to us. I think they left here with a vision and will be able to pray more specifically for ministry in the region. It was a blessing to be able to show them some of the things that the Lord is doing here
On this coming Monday we should have an additional co-worker. This translator will be able to help us begin preparing needed materials in the S'gaw Karen language! Many of the refugees from Burma who are now going to the USA speak this language. Sound doctrinal materials will be usable in Burma, Thailand, the USA and many other countries where these refugees are moving.
Please pray for the on-going work in many other languages. We are playing catch up as we are still training some new staff since moving to Chiang Mai.
Please pray for our health, effectiveness in ministry, boldness, and interaction with each other. At least 3 languages are spoken each day in our midst. Additional co-workers broaden that.
Pray for the brethren in printing ministries in the USA who have committed to print many 10's of thousands of copies of the Word of God for this region. May He be glorified through it.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - One Month Since Arriving
Date: 3/27/2010
Greetings Brethren,
Well, we have been in Thailand for exactly one month tomorrow and the deed is done with us moving to Chiang Mai. Krinny and I are in one house sharing it with the office facility. It is a rather large, one storey house with a natural division between our living quarters and the office. The gals are in a house just over the back fence from us. We will begin moving our literature storage and men's dorm into a three storey "Shop house" on Tuesday. It is just down the main road from us. All in all, it is a nearly perfect situation.
The houses are mostly set up and very comfortable. The office is around 20% set up and should be 100% by the end of next week. On this coming Monday, we will fully resume a normal schedule with a new staff worker who is from Burma.
We just wanted to let you know this and praise the Lord for it. We are all very happy to be here and have already sensed several strategic advantages in it. We have access to people who speak many of the languages in which we are working now. Actually we get to choose who to work with as there are many available.
Thank you again for praying and for giving.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - March 13, 2010
Date: 3/13/2010
Greetings Brethren,
Boxes are mostly packed and workers will begin Monday removing air conditioners from our houses and office. They will begin padding the furniture and breakables and on Wednesday trucks will be loaded for transport to Chiang Mai. We should have it all unloaded by Thursday of this next week. We would appreciate your intercession for strength and organization over these days.
The country is in turmoil at present as huge demonstrations aimed at toppling the government begins tomorrow in Bangkok. Even though we are far removed from the areas where the demonstrations are planned, we witnessed many thousands of people wearing their red shirts and flags flooding in from upcountry today on the highway. Please pray for the country now as some are predicting dark days ahead.
We have received word of great interest in the soon-to-be-finished re-typeset Judson Burmese Bible. I am not in possession of all the facts yet, but it looks like there will be sufficient commitments for the printing of a large number of these Bibles if our Lord provides for the printing ministries in the USA. Please pray for these ministries as many in Burma will be blessed by it. This is certainly not the only language we are working on but it is a very important one.
Thank you for the confidence you have placed in us as evidenced by your labor in prayer on our behalf. You are a vital part of this work.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Travel to Thailand
Date: 2/26/2010
Dear Intercessors,
Tomorrow morning, Saturday, Feb 27th, we are scheduled to leave DFW, traveling back to Thailand. Discussing the length of the trip (over 24 hours) someone recently said to me, "I imagine you are used to it by now." The short answer to that is "NO!" It seems longer each time we do it, as well as how long it takes to get over it afterwards! I am hesitant to mention that age has a lot to do with that.
As soon as we return, I am scheduled to travel to Chiang Mai to look for housing for both home and office. We are all excited about making this move as it will strategically place us in the ideal location to pursue this work.
We covet your prayers not only for physical endurance and safety as we travel, but for the efforts to find the housing needed in the northern part of Thailand. Many of God's people have given specifically for this upcoming move and related work. Many have prayed.
We want you to know that all of you are a big part of what we do as you labor with us especially in prayer. Intercession is hard work and the flesh naturally rebels from it. We are aware however that the battle is not won on the battlefield, but on the mountain top as hands are raised toward heaven. (Exodus 17;10-12) Thank you for your labor!

Dear Intercessors,
In an earlier post, we sent word that a video update would be sent to those who asked. That was done via postal mail but we have learned that several did not get it or there was a problem with the disk. It is very much dated as it reports on our plans for returning to Thailand. Since that is the case, I am going to post a link to the file here.

NOTE: This video will be removed within the month. Please let us know if you still need a DVD of this report.
Thank you for praying as we prepare to return to Asia.

Subject: Gaudet Family Update - Tickets purchased!
Date: 1/29/2010
Dear Brethren,
Just a quick update to tell you that we have tickets in hand for our trip back to Thailand. This time 5 years ago we had just arrived in Thailand intending to spend one year! I am certainly glad that our Lord is in control.
Our departure is scheduled for Feb 27. We had some pretty specific goals for our time here in the USA. Mostly the plans involved making sure we had the mind of the Lord and the backing of brethren concering our plans to return. An amazing amount of that has been accomplished.
We have just completed a very short video update of the time spent in the USA. We probably will not put that on our website for all to view as it is time-sensitive. Please reply to me if you are interested in getting access to this video update. Click to Reply
Please pray as we finalize things here in the USA and head back to Thailand. I started to write "and pick up where we left off" but that would not be the case. Our local co-workers have faithfully remained on the job while we have been gone. We thank the Lord for them and for you, our co-laborers in intercession.

Gaudet Family Update - Haiti Disaster
Date: 1/14/2010
Dear Brethren,
Since we have been involved in situations like this in the past, several have contacted us about it already. We are seeking the Lord for wisdom about how to help these dear people in the aftermath of this horrible earthquake.
However, a long-time friend, Keith Davidson of Seedline International has just sent the following information concerning something they are doing now about it. I just talked to Bro. Davidson and all of the info following is current as of this evening, Thursday, January 14, 2010. I have edited his original post to match what he told me by phone.
Please pray for the people of Haiti who have suffered so much. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. They certainly are not prepared for a disaster like this. Missionaries have been working there for many years and we should be asking our Lord now to use them in the aftermath to point many to the Saviour. Each one of us should be asking our Lord now, "What can we do to help?" Many already are.
Here is the info from Bro. Davidson:
____________
In light of the recent earthquake in the city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Seedline International stands poised to send relief to this devastated region. We are raising funds to send a container of 30,000 lbs. of food and 14,000 lbs. of Scripture as soon as next week.
I am just as torn as I am sure that you are between having a desire to help my fellowman and wanting to be sure that my "help" gets to the people in the streets who need it most.
The container that we send will be handled by American missionary, Rodney Fitzsimmons. He and his wife have served in Haiti for more than 20 years so they have established contacts. The distribution of relief supplies will be controlled through these contacts in local area churches and orphanages.
The cost of sending this container is approximately $12,000. At present, we have approximately $6,500 promised. If you would like to help fund this relief project to Haiti, please send your gifts to:
