Gaudet Family Update – Container Delivery Successful!

The container arrived as scheduled at midday and the entire contents, nearly 40,000# was unloaded by hand in just over two hours by nearly 20 men carrying boxes one at a time. The preparatory work done by our co-workers made it go so much smoother. They return to Chiang Mai tomorrow and we start with the strategic planning as to shipping in several different directions to get this material into the hands of the people who are requesting it. If I could show you a map of what happens to it next you would be amazed. However in addition to the multitudes in Burma without knowledge of the Saviour, over 2 ½ million people from Burma live in Thailand, many of them illegally. This shipment included over 10,000 whole Bibles. This is the text of what is commonly referred to as the Judson version, translated by Adoniram Judson and first printed in 1840. Over a period of one year, our coworkers re-typeset it. The reason for that was the poor image quality of using a copy to print from. In the process we not only re-typeset it in clear type, but we made some other improvements as to how the verses were marked. As soon as the container was unloaded, the workers were all given Bibles. Several of them sat down and started reading. Some Christians from Burma were present and when they looked at the Bible they commented as to how beautiful it was as well as easy to read and easy to find verses. All of this was expressed in the presence of the co-worker who actually did most of the work of re-typesetting. I think it was a hit! Those who were responsible for printing and shipping these to us deserve a real blessing. Again a big Thanks for interceding. The Lord loves His Word and wants it published more than any of us do. “…for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” Ps.138:2 “The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.” |
