Gaudet Family Update – from Tom

I am grateful for God’s protection and provision today! I know many of you heard about an accident I had on Monday evening. I was just released from the hospital this afternoon.
On Monday evening in our house in Chiang Mai I tripped over one of the last boxes yet to unpack from our move. Trying to recover from the stumble I toppled into the glass closet door and it broke. A large, deep gaping wound on my forearm was the result of that. Of course it bled immediately but much worse because I am taking blood thinners.
Surgery was necessary due to muscle and nerve damage. The biggest factor however was blood loss and potential for more. I spent the first night in ICU then another on a ward. I was released today after 7 units of plasma to replace lost blood and increase the clotting factor.
I asked the Dr how many stitches he put in and he said, “Oh, so many, did not count.” The surgery went well and a repair to muscle was done. We are not sure about nerve damage yet as there was a lot of swelling. I do have numbness in two fingers now. I am due to return to the hospital every day for dressing changes.
We have received many expressions of concern via e-mail and calls. We are grateful for each of you, our faithful co-workers, and several missionary families here who have offered encouragment and help. We do appreciate your continued intercession for healing. Thank you so much.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet
