Dear Intercessors,

I am forwarding this to you as this dear Pastor and family have been precious to us over the years. Many of you know them. Bro. Purks and his wife had moved to Fort Worth and joined Metropolitan Baptist Church upon his retirement from the pastorate in Frederick, MD. The following was sent out from our sponsoring Church office today.

(Monday) morning around 5:00 AM Pastor Louis Purks passed away from health complications. He organized and pastored Victory Baptist Church in Frederick, Maryland until just this year. Several months ago he moved to Ft. Worth and has been such a tremendous blessing at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Being one of our Lord’s Servants, he will be greatly missed as a teacher, preacher, and friend.
Please be much in prayer for Gayle, his faithful wife for over 35 years. And please remember his son, Pastor Jonathan Purks, who assumed the Pastorate of Victory Baptist Church in Maryland, and his daughter, Julie Purks, who also lives in Maryland.

Funeral services are pending, and we will be giving that information as it happens. Bro. Lou, as many of his friends called him, was always a joy to be around. He taught Wednesday night at Metropolitan Baptist Church and a 3 hour class Saturday in the institute. He also taught the Friends in the Faith Class on Sunday morning. He used his last energy in serving his Lord and Savior.

God graced our lives with this servant! Please remember to hold this family in your prayers. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending an offering for his wife to help defray funeral costs. You can send it to Metropolitan Baptist Church with “Louis Purks Memorial” in the memo. We will see that Mrs. Purks receives it.

Please pray much for the family at this time especially. As i said, this he and the church he pastored for so many years have been a great encouragement and blessing to this missionary family. He and his wife easily fit in at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Fort Worth and they were a blessing there also.
