Gaudet Family Update – September 8, 2014

September 9 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
Brethren,

By this time in our USA stay we had intended to already a couple of months into travels to visit churches. Instead, because of medical problems for both of us, we have only been in a handful of meetings where we have reported and shared testimony of God’s provision and direction in our ministry.

However, we are now filling out our calendar and organizing things for the next few months of travel, (Lord willing!). If you have a specific date in mind, please let us know ASAP.

In an earlier e-mail update, we told you about a couple of prayer initiatives for the outreach during the Asian Games Sept 18-Oct 4 in Incheon, Korea. I did not at that time have all the info needed, so here is another Facebook page where daily reports will be shared. Most of the info will be duplicated on the other page, but it is good to friend this page for those of you who use social media. The link for that page is here.

Please pray for the outreach. The potential for ministry with those who have never heard is so great as athletes and coaches come from many countries in the region where missions as we know it is restricted.

Also, please pray as we have a 40′ shipping container due in Thailand within the next week. It contains nearly 40,000# of literature in the Burmese language. Please pray that it can clear customs without undue charges.

One of the very strategic things we had on our hearts to do while in the USA is working with some of our brethren in the printing ministries here. They have done so much already and we want to encourage these ministries with how much of an impact it has made. Please pray as we continue to make these contacts. More, so much more is needed in the region.

Greetings Brethren,

Some of you know of our past involvement in outreaches during Olympic style events. For the upcoming Asian Games, September 19-October 4 in Incheon, Korea we have played a rather small role, working with brethren who have organized an outreach. It is such a joy to see others step in and take up the opportunity to reach out to the athletes and coaching staff.

Especially the Asian Games is such an opportunity. Of the 45 countries participating in the games, nearly 40 of them are countries where a traditional approach to missions is not possible. 13,000 athletes, coaches and staff from these countries will be participating.

Of course, prayer is essential. We would like to make you aware of at least two initiatives aimed at equipping you to be able to pray specifically for the outreach. Please consider signing up for both of them to get regular updates from the team on the ground in Korea during the games. There will of course be some overlap of information but it will be worth it to get a full picture of what is happening.

Asian Games prayer e-mail list. This is being organized by Mrs. Francis Martin. She is sending great information about the opportunities and will be sending daily updates from the field once things are underway. To subscribe to that e-mail list send an e-mail to this address cecy2302@hotmail.com and ask to be subscribed to the list.

Facebook; Asian Games Prayer page. You should also watch the updates on this page. To make sure you get notice of new info and are able to comment, you should be a friend of the page. Click here: Asian Games Prayer Page

We would like to encourage you to go to these sources for updates and regular prayer requests from the outreach. You will make a significant contribution as you intercede.

Gaudet Family Update – Home from Hospital

August 4 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
I want to thank all of your for your prayers on our behalf. Tom is home and resting. He is bruised and tired and has doctor ordered restrictions on his activities for a few weeks. The second procedure took a much bigger toll on him than we had thought it would. The doctors say however, it was successful. He spent 5 nights in the hospital.

We will update you again soon. Once again thank you for your prayers. We know that they are what counts and makes the difference. He had good care at the hospital, but ultimately we know that the Lord is the One who takes care of us.

Gaudet Family Update – Procedure Update

August 4 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
We wish to thank so many of you who have interceded while I underwent the heart vessel procedure nearly 24 hours ago. Within moments of posting the original e-mail Update, we began receiving expressions of concern by several who were sharing it with their churches and friends. What an encouragement it is to know so many care.

We would like to report to you that the one major blockage that was such a concern has now been opened and a stent inserted! This second procedure in two days has left me pretty well beat up, but other than superficial bruising all seems to be well.

In fact, the cardiologist has signed off on it but I am going to be staying over tonight so they can monitor some elevated lab readings.

Thank you again, please don’t stop praying.

Gaudet Family Update – Hospitalization

July 31 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
Sunday morning July 27th, when I awoke, I knew something was the matter as my heart was out of rhythm. Krinny took me to the ER. The rhythm problem corrected itself while I was in the ER but the doctors had noticed some things in my lab results and vitals which they thought best to check out with more tests.

I was admitted and the next morning (Monday) I was taken in for Cardiac catheterization and possibly a stent. They could not get the stent past a blockage, so today, Wednesday 7/30/14 at 5 PM, they are going to the “roto-rooter” treatment to clear the artery and then try to put the stent in again. Please pray, as these procedures are not without risk. I will send an update as soon as I can after the procedure. It may be a couple of days.

All this developed very quickly and we could not write till now. We appreciate your intercession.

Gaudet Family Update – July 19, 2014

July 22 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
Brethren,

We realized it has been some time since our last e-mail update. Thank you for faithfully interceding on our behalf.

The last e-mail mentioned problems with a shipment we had made from Thailand. All that worked itself out within a few anxious days. We were again reminded of how much the enemy of our souls detests the Word of God. Thank you for praying.

At this point our warehouse in Thailand is empty! All of the materials have made it to the distribution point. It was the largest shipment we had ever made, equivalent to two containers full of literature. All of the necessary funds to ship this material came in as well as enough to cover maybe even two more containers. We are rejoicing for sure.

We have already received word back from a number of brethren in Burma who write to thank the churches in the USA who have provided these Bibles, New Testaments and Gospels. Thank you for your part in it all.

Another container has now shipped from the USA! We just stand in amazement as to what the Lord has done.

Work goes on with translation and publishing in numerous languages in a number of locations. Please pray as we coordinate and facilitate all this. We are still dealing with some health related issues for both of us. At this point, we have taken a rather light schedule of reporting to supporters as we work through these issues. However, God is blessing in the meetings.

Thank you again for your support and intercession.

Gaudet Family Update – Return from Mexico & Prayer Requested

June 12 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
Brethren,

I have returned from Mexico excited about what the Lord is still doing there. Thank you for your prayers for the outdoor event. It did rain quite a bit but that did not stop around 1,500 from attending on at least one day. We literally saw the rain stop just before the event started!

David Martin was detained by officials on the USA side of the border as he returned. At this point, we really do not know anything more about it, but should by tomorrow. Meanwhile, please pray.

We have experienced a problem with some of the shipping of Bibles from Thailand. At this point we are awaiting a resolution

Gaudet Family Update – Correction to Shipping Date

June 5 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
Brethren,

In our last update, I erroneously reported that the rescheduled shipment of Bibles from Thailand would be on June 14. I was in a hurry when I wrote that! Actually the shipment is scheduled for THIS SATURDAY, June 7th.

Please pray, These materials have been in storage far too long, especially since brethren are standing by waiting on them. Our Lord really used churches in the USA to make provision, not only for the printing but also for the cost of trans-shipping.

I am writing this from Chiapas, Mexico where the brethren here are celebrating 50 years of independent Baptist history among several of the Indian tribes.

Thank you for your intercession. Milton Martin’s ministry in southern Mexico. The largest facility available in the city has been rented by the Mexican brethren. Rainy season has already started so they are very concerned that the event will be disrupted. The facility will accommodate over 4,000 and brethren are traveling from many of the churches which have been started. Also a good sized contingent is also traveling from the USA as well as several Latin American countries.

Please pray that this celebration would not be disrupted by the weather. Pray also for Bro. Martins’ health and stamina. It will be a tremendous encouragement to everyone involved. Pray also for Mrs. Martin as she is unable to attend. I will be working with several others to film, photograph, and otherwise document the proceedings.

Also, please pray for our health as well as our time here in the USA. Both of us have health issues for which we need to find solutions. I have finally gotten an appointment with a rheumatologist later this month and hope to get some answers to difficulties I have been having. Pray for Krinny also as we deal with some similar issues with her.

It is such a blessing to know that many of you are faithfully praying for the work and this missionary family. Thank you in Jesus’ Name!

Gaudet Family Update – Shipping again & Mexico Travel

June 3 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
Brethren,

Please allow us to bring you up to date with a couple of matters for which we request your intercession.

You are aware of the problems we encountered a couple of weeks ago with making a shipment from Thailand. Due to the military coup in the country, the border area was closed temporarily. News from the region leads us to believe that it is now possible to make that shipment.

Therefore, it is now scheduled for June 14th. We would like to ask you to pray that this will occur without interruption. The Bibles are needed and we need to get them out of our facility. Missionary Nat Williams is coordinating this with our coworkers and brethren inside Burma to facilitate this shipment. Please pray!

I am scheduled to depart early tomorrow morning to participate in the 50th anniversary celebration of missionary Milton Martin’s ministry in southern Mexico.

Gaudet Family Update – Shipping Status

May 29 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
Brethren,

In our last update we asked prayer for and mentioned we could not predict how the military coup in Thailand would affect a shipment scheduled for this weekend. Well, we know now! Once everyone had traveled to the staging area they learned that the way to the destination had been shut down by the military.

Brethren there will continue to monitor the situation and we will let you know when the restrictions have been lifted. We are so grateful for brethern who travelled to the border area from both countries to facilitae this, but they are going home empty handed at this point. Please continue to pray!
