Gaudet Family Update – Wonderful Christmas!

December 26 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Greetings Brethren,

Over the past couple of days we have enjoyed a great time of fellowship with co-workers. One of our co-workers is a young Thai lady that has been faithful to us and to the Lord for nearly 5 years. Her Mother and Father came by bus to Chiang Mai yesterday to visit. For several years she has had a burden to see them become Christians. We have mentioned them in the past and several of you have prayed for them.

She asked them to attend services today and they agreed. In fact, they had brought dress clothes with them even though they had never been to church before. Pastor Srithrone preached and when the services were dismissed, he led them in a Bible study and they both made professions of faith in Christ! Oh what a blessed time it was!

It could not have been any more of a blessing if I had led them to Christ myself. God does answer prayer! Please continue to pray for them as they live in a rural area several hours from here and from a sound church. Pook and her parents leave here tomorrow for her home province until after the first of the year. I am sure it will be a joyous time with family. Rejoice with them!

We have several things to accomplish this next week while the office is closed. Please pray about a trip we need to make to a nearby country. We hope to have dates, visas and plans sorted out for that next week also.

Gaudet Family Update – Christmas Greetings!

Dear Brethren,

Please be in prayer for us over the next few days especially as I and Jeffry Evans make a quick trip to Burma tomorrow and return on Sunday evening the 16th. We intend to meet up with several brethren there during that time. Most of these are men I have known for a number of years. Of course, several things are in the works that we must visit with these contacts concerning.

Several major projects are just coming to completion. Reporting on most of that will have to wait. However, as the Lord is working in our midst, of course the opposition is great. Please pray for us and for our co-workers remaining here while we are away.

We have received news that a portion of the delayed shipment has arrived. More about that later, but for now, please continue to pray.

Thank you for your labor of love in intercession. You are making a difference.

Gaudet Family Update – Dec. 5, 2010

Dear Intercessors,

Thank you for all you have done interceding for the shipments last week. Please don’t stop! A 6 ton shipment is slated for next week and we have not yet heard concerning the arrival of the large shipment. Communication is not easy so we do not yet know for certain of its safe arrival. Please pray!

So many wonderful testimonies have come out of this past week while many of you were praying. Everything from requests from distributors (one will be here tomorrow at 8am to pick up Burmese Bibles!!), e-mails from many of you expressing concern and committing prayer and finances, and great testimonies from our co-workers, both those who actually handled the shipments as well as those who remained behind doing the day to day work of publishing. We had a time of rejoicing at our Friday afternoon Bible Study.

I mentioned a missionary in Latin America who sent a large offering to help with the shipping. All the necessary funds had been committed by brethren when we received word from another missionary in an Asian country who wanted to help. We thanked them and said the need was met! A pastor from the USA asked about the funds and when told that everything had been committed, he said ‘Wow, you gotta move quick if you want to be part of that!’ He expressed more than he knew. That is the way we feel oftentimes especially after a week like this past one.

At any rate, thank you for your labor with us. Please do not stop praying. Pray for eyes of the enemy to be blinded and the eyes of lost to be opened. Souls hang in the balance. Many people in three countries will have the Word of God because of it!

Gaudet Family Update – Logistics

November 29 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Dear Intercessors,

Two of our co-workers traveled 6 hours today (by bus!) and are preparing to move approximately 20 tons of literature tomorrow and Wednesday. In our last Update we told you how a window of opportunity was opened to move these materials. We asked specific prayer for these matters.

Two things have happened since that e-mail update… One is that most of the funds which we were short have been committed! We are overwhelmed by the concern shown by many. A missionary to Latin America sent approximately 1/3 of the funds needed! The second thing is that we received a call on Sunday indicating that the window of opportunity was closing on Tuesday afternoon. Even though we were not yet prepared we dropped everything and focused on the opportunity.

I have remained in our office to make the necessary funds transfers and preparations. We spent most of the day lining up trucks and other arrangements. Over the next two days over 20tons of Bibles, New Testaments, Gospels, tracts, and other materials in Burmese, Nepali, and Lao will be moved into 5 strategic locations where the materials can readily be distributed. Many have been waiting on the literature for several weeks.

So many things can happen to disrupt these plans. Please pray for protection, wisdom, strength, bank transfers, foiled plans of the enemy, and boldness for all of us.

We do not take lightly your investment in this work by way of intercession. Thank you for all you do to make this happen.

Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Gaudet Family Update – Shipping available NOW!!!

November 22 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Brethren,

We received word this morning that there is a window of opportunity to move the Burmese literature to the key areas where they are needed. We will have to move quickly on this as there is no guarantee of it being available later. As background, we received a 40,000# container of Bibles, New Testaments, tracts and Gospels in Burmese in September but have been handicapped in positioning the materials due to local conditions. If you wish to know more, please contact me.

At any rate, I just arrived back in Thailand and received word this morning that transport was available. Due to the immediacy of the situation, we chose to ask you to specifically pray concerning this matter. We know that the shipping immediately needed is going to cost approximately $7,000. We have approximately $4,000 of that on hand now. Specific prayers yield specific results. Strategically, the way we are doing this is the best way that can be found.

Again, if you wish to know details please contact me. It is not wise for us to give detailed information in a forum such as this.

I would like to conclude this post with a quote which reveals so much concerning prayer and missions.

“Prayer needs no passport, visa or work permit. There is no such thing as a ‘closed country’ as far as prayer is concerned…much of the history of mission could be written in terms of God moving in response to persistent prayer.” – Stephan Gaukroger

Gaudet Family Update – Intercession Focus

November 14 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Dear Intercessors,

Last week at the start of the elections in Myanmar (Burma) fighting broke out along the border with Thailand. An estimated 20,000 people displaced by the fighting fled into Thailand at that time. Humanitarian assistance is being given them by established agencies. How this involves many of you however is the presence of a good supply of literature; Bibles, portions, tracts, and other materials in the languages of Burma being available for them at this time. We can give God the Glory for it all! Continue to pray for open doors.

Many of you are watching the news of the release of Aung San Suu Kyi. She has spent most of the last two decades in jail or under house arrest. Many people see this as a great step forward for change in Burma. It certainly focuses intercessors on the region.

Please pray for souls. A lot of effort has been made over the past few years by brethren who have sacrificed to see literature prepared in these languages. The timing cannot be ignored. God is at work!

Gaudet Family Update – Travel

October 15 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Brethren,

I am boarding a flight in an hour or so for the USA. This is a very unusual trip for me for several reasons. I am going alone; Krinny is staying in Thailand while I am away. Once I arrive in the USA other than two very quick trips out, I will be in Fort Worth for the entire month planned. Most of the time will be spent trying to be an encouragement to our sponsoring Church. October is Missions month and I will be there for at least three of the Sundays of the month with them.

While I was preparing for this trip, our staff was working hard to finish a couple of projects. We had incredible opposition and at some point one of our co-workers from the USA who has just returned after being gone for around 3 years said words to this effect “I don’t remember the opposition being this great the last time I was here.’ My reply was “We were not involved in as many key things as now and the potential impact was not as great.” In the midst of the struggles however, a major task of nearly three years was finished. Also a short video update was just completed. I have it with me and will duplicate and mail it from the USA.

One major project which will take probably one year to complete in the Urdu language commences on Monday after I leave. Please pray for those involved. Quite a bit of time was spent making sure that our co-workers with that project were not handicapped by my absence.

I do appreciate your intercession for this trip and for Krinny and our co-workers while I am away. As I have expressed many times, we are “dependent” Baptists. We need your prayer and the Lord’s power.

For Souls Still Waiting,

Tom and Krinny Gaudet
