Dear Intercessors,

Please find our latest prayer letter in PDF format by clicking here. It can also be downloaded from our website at www.gaudetfamily.org.

We are so grateful for each of you who are involved in any way in this ministry through intercession or financial support (or both!). We could not imagine attempting a ministry such as this without intercessors.

Gaudet Family Update – April 21, 2012

Greetings Brethren,

Andy Kiesel from Oak Harbor, WA has extended his time here by a couple of weeks and since he is available, it would really be good if he could accompany me on a needed trip to Burma. However, we have run into a snag with my passport and must wait till Monday when the US Consulate opens. If all goes well, that matter can be cleared up and we would still have time to get a visa and make the trip. Please pray that all this will work out and all the right connections will be made in the country also.

A 40′ container of Burmese Bibles, Gospels, New Testaments and tracts is due to arrive in the first week of May. Please be in prayer concerning that now. Pray that there will not be unreasonable fees applied to it and that we can get the distribution worked out while on the trip to Burma. Many things are changing in Burma. Please pray for the work of the Lord there. We are seeing several years’ work publishing in the languages of Burma really start to pay off as brethren there have more freedom to use these materials than before. Also there is more focus on Burma now from Christians in the USA and other countries as they see the country open up. To God be all the Glory for open doors!

While showing some of our recent guests around the city, we stopped off at a Buddhist temple with some very old ruins. There I met a 64 year old monk who spoke very good English and wanted to talk. That conversation now has led to a couple of face-to-face visits as well as a number of phone calls. We have left him literature which he is reading and making comments on. Please pray as we build a relationship with him, and that it would lead to him seriously considering the claims of Christ on his life.

Gaudet Family Update – Traveling, etc…

April 2 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Brethren,

We mentioned in an earlier update that we were scheduled to have visitors. They are here and it will be a hectic week ahead. We are renting a SUV type vehicle and leaving tomorrow morning (Sunday) bound for the border region, 5 hours away. I will be speaking in a church 1-1/2 hours away then we will continue the trip to the border. Return will most likely be on Wednesday if all goes well.

We would ask prayer for safety and for us to be able to quickly accomplish the needed tasks there. Preparation must be made for shipping and distribution of literature. We have a container due to arrive the first week of May. Pray also that our visitors all leave Thailand with a clear vision of what the Lord wants them to do with what they have seen and learned.

They were able to hand-carry most of the video equipment we have recently purchased. However a few key components have just arrived in TX and now need to be brought to Thailand. Please pray that we can make connection with someone who is coming soon who can carry these items to us. We are so grateful for those who have given to help pay for this equipment. Continue to pray for co-laborers please. We so desire to make a difference with this media.

There is so much more happening right now. Work will continue while we are away for these days. We are having some significant problems with our server and will most likely be replacing it. Pray that we can do so without major expense and more importantly, no loss of data!

You will never know what it means to have you faithfully praying for the work here. Please don’t stop. Consider coming to see for yourselves what the Lord is doing through it.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Gaudet Family Update – 18 March Addendum

Brethren,

In my haste to get the last message out, I forgot the most imminent personnel situation. On the evening of the 20th, a young lady will arrive here for a period of 5 months. She is ethnic Hmong from Laos.

Please pray for all of us as we begin working with her. There is not space to tell you how this all fits together with other ministries both past and future. But suffice it to say that we are looking forward to how the Lord will bless during these days.

Brethren, pray for us…

Gaudet Family Update – 18 March 2012

Greetings Brethren,

A lot is happening in the work here right now but I wanted to ask prayer of wisdom for us over these next few weeks specifically in the area of co-workers. Some are coming, some are going, visitors are arriving and the work goes on.

Carolyn, one of our co-workers has just booked her return ticket to the USA. She was due to return late summer but she is going back early to assist her mother who will be having surgery. She will be sorely missed.

Over the past 10 days we have met with a S’gaw Karen man from Burma twice. He is well educated and very well qualified to work with us on doing a thorough text check on the Karen Bible. Based on that study we will formulate a plan on what to do about preparing it for print. We should be able to finalize things with him tomorrow afternoon and then he will be working with us.

We need wisdom about upgrading the living conditions for a couple of our local co-workers. I won’t go into detail about it here but please pray for us as we discuss obtaining additional housing and transportation for them.

On the 24th, a young man from Oak Harbor, WA arrives for nearly 3 weeks. Five days later on the 29th, a young couple from Conyers, GA will arrive for two weeks to do a short survey trip. They are considering working with us and this trip is necessary to seek the Lord’s will.

During the days these visitors are here, a lot of traveling will be taking place. Most of it is things we already had planned or needed to attend to but we rescheduled to do during these days. The work of translation and publishing in various languages must continue during these days.

Anyway, we mention these things now to ask prayer for wisdom as we shuffle responsibilities, as well as funds to cover expenses for those we need to care for. It is all part of the work. Pray for the short-term visitors that they would leave with a vision for what the Lord wants done. Each one of these contributes a great deal to the ongoing work of publishing the only Book that God ever wrote!

Gaudet Family Update – March 6, 2012

Dear Intercessors,

Thank you for partnering with us through intercession for our co-worker, Tina. She was released from the hospital today and is recovering at home. There is nothing that I know of that encourages like knowing folks are praying for you. Following is a portion of an e-mail that they wrote to me, slightly edited.

“I believe it was not possible for us to face this time without your prayers, love and concern. Please convey our thanks to all who were praying and standing with us in this time. (Tina’s surgery) We cannot express our feelings but our hearts are filled with joy and happiness to see how our brothers and sisters in Christ care for us. Today I have no regret that my family didn’t accept me* because I found a wonderful and much bigger family in Christ who loves us and cares for us.”
*He is making reference to his natural family who turned against him once he became a Christian.

When the bill was paid today we had complete peace that the costs would be covered. At this writing nearly all of it has been committed to by God’s people! We wept with joy concerning His provision and watch care over these precious folks. Thank you!

Another 40,000# container of Bibles, New Testaments, Gospels and tracts in Burmese will be loaded for shipment on the 13th of March! Plans are already underway for more. In addition, two printing ministries are now raising funds and preparing to reprint the Bible in Burmese. What a need there is and our Lord is making the way for more.

A Hmong Pastor just arrived here. For the next few weeks he will meet daily with the two Hmong brethren here who are translating a Bible Institute curriculum. I surely wish I could tell you more about this but it is a joy to see them once again around a table talking about the things of the Lord.

Thank you again for your concern for the work and workers laboring together to publish His Word.

Gaudet Family Update – Surgery Update for Co-Worker

March 7 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Dear Intercessors,

Tina is doing well after the emergency appendectomy. The surgeon told them that they caught it just in time as it was near rupturing. I am quite sure that doubling on the back of their motorcycle to the emergency room was not a pleasant experience for her.

We visited Tina in the hospital today and she was resting well after a difficult night. When she and Asim learned that many of you were praying, they expressed gratitude. Here is a note they just sent us “Please say our thanks to all who are praying for Tina and all who stood beside us at this time. It is really encouraging and making our faith more strong.Thank you so much once again”

It is possible that she will be released from the hospital tomorrow. Please do not stop praying for her recovery.

Please pray also about the finances for this surgery. When they found out that surgery was necessary, the first question that came to mind for them was the cost. Here, one is not released from the hospital until the bill is paid. We are pulling together every account we have to make sure that the bill is paid upon her release. The hospital estimated the bill would be around $2,350. We will know more when she is released. Asim asked if there was a way he could borrow money to pay for it but I know how much he makes monthly. It would take more than one year to repay it. Our Lord has a plan.

Again, we appreciate your intercession for her. There is much at stake as we labor together with these dear folks.

Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Gaudet Family Update – Prayer for Co-Worker’s wife, Emergency!

March 2 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Dear Intercessors,

One of our co-workers who is from Pakistan called this evening. He had to take his wife to the hospital with pain in her side. It was discovered that she had appendicitis and had to undergo surgery immediately. She is being prepped as this is written and the surgery will be within an hour of now.

I am actually at home as I have been unable to walk for the past two days. Krinny and another co-worker are at the hospital with them.

Please pray for Tina as she undergoes this surgery and for her quick recovery. May our Lord be pleased to guide the Dr. as he operates on her. He is able.

Several of us have experienced unusual attacks of the enemy in different forms over the past few weeks. We are in need of prayer. It is obvious that the translation and publishing work being done is making a difference. That is when the enemy fights.

Just this afternoon in a prayer meeting we recounted what the Lord is doing in our midst. This dear lady is not only helping her husband proofing the work he is doing in Urdu but is translating some new believers discipleship lessons.

Thank you for standing ready to respond by intercession.

Gaudet Family Update – Travel, IT Help Needed

February 21 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Dear Intercessors.

I just returned from an unplanned, two day trip to Bangkok with one of our co-workers. This is one of the Hmong brethren who are working with us translating the Bible Institute Curriculum. For the past couple of months he has been experiencing loud ringing in his ears accompanied by pain which extended down his neck. This has really hindered his work and of course made all of us concerned. After several Dr. Visits here which concluded with “Here take this anti-depressant” all the way to suspicions of a tumor, we decided to take him to a hospital in Bangkok which we felt could actually give a solid diagnosis.

A MRI and other tests were run which eliminated suspicions of something worse and he was sent home with a regimen of medication for pain while changing some environmental factors which are contributing to his condition. It was very well worth the time and money spent to get some real help. Of course, it was not budgeted but the entire cost was around $700. He still needs to be fitted for eyeglasses.

Please pray for him and for one of our other co-workers who had to make an emergency room visit last night. The enemy is very active and when we review the list of materials being prepared daily, it is no surprise. Intercession is needed.

We are also in need of IT help. If you know of someone who could consult with us via phone or internet please let me know. The two areas of need are secure web page development, and Windows Server and Backup Exec software.

We mentioned in an earlier e-mail about our family returning to the USA Sept-Nov, 2012. Several pastors have already contacted us and we are working on the schedule now. If you would like to have us report or present the ministry during these dates, drop us a line or e-mail.

We so much appreciate your intercession on our behalf. Much more could be said of the needs and opportunities before us but we will stop here. Thank you for your concern.

Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Gaudet Family Update – 2/7/12 Update, Reporting to Churches

February 8 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Greetings Brethren,

Each time we send an update, the temptation is to tell you everything that is transpiring. If we did, no one would read our updates for sure, since they would be so long… Suffice it to say that our Lord is working in our midst. I don’t know about you, but I want to be where He is working, wherever it is and whoever He is using is OK with me!

Another container is scheduled to ship soon. It will once again be full of Scriptures in Burmese. All of the Bibles from the last shipment are already gone and the requests we have now outnumber the incoming quantity in the next shipment. In addition to Bibles of course are Gospels, New Testaments, and tracts.

Over the next few months we will have a number of visitors. We love to host those who visit the mission field! It becomes a real ministry and many have surrendered their lives for full-time service after such a visit. One young couple is making a survey trip to determine the Lord’s will in returning to work with us. Please pray about that now. We are excited!

Over the past few weeks, we were able to make contact with 3 more men from Pakistan who we believe will prove to be very helpful. One of them lives here in Thailand. As I recounted what has already been done and is currently being worked on in the languages of the region, one of them especially expressed joy and willingness to help with proofreading, and any other way possible. Please keep these efforts before the throne. Literature in the following languages is being translated: Punjabi, Urdu, and Pashtu.

We are beginning to formulate plans now for a short trip to the USA in the fall. Our Pastor requested us to be at the annual missions conference at our Church in October. Therefore, we are making a general announcement about this now. If you wish us to make a report or presentation sometime in September-November, 2012 let me know and we can sort it out. These dates are tentative. Exact dates will be determined by need.

Thank you for your intercession. Please don’t stop! Souls hang in the balance.
For Souls Still Waiting,
Tom and Krinny Gaudet
