Gaudet Family Update – From Carolyn Chambers

May 24 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Brethren,

The following is a short note from Carolyn Chambers who was just released from the hospital after 6 days. She is at home resting at the moment:

“Thanks so very much to each and every one who prayed for me and to those who have given toward the cost of hospitalization. I was able to come home from the hospital today. I’m still very, very weak and will be for awhile, but look to recover completely. I have a future appointment for the stomach issue and feel hopeful for a resolution to that. Again, I am so grateful for prayer. The Lord’s hand was upon me for good in all of this.”

Click here if you would like to send her an e-mail. Her upcoming tests will be extensive and expensive. Thank you for praying. Please don’t stop.

Gaudet Family Update – Carolyn Chambers Update, 22 May 2013

May 22 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Brethren,

Many have asked about Carolyn Chambers. She is still hospitalized. Today the Dr. told her that her blood counts were improving. Basically however, her immune system is very low. That is why they want to keep her under observation. By the way this is not uncommon. She is still having pain in her abdomen, but that is unrelated to the fevers. It will have to be dealt with after the Dengue

So, the plan is to watch and treat her till the Dengue is under control before talking about releasing her. Krinny is staying much of the time with her. .

Please keep on praying for a full recovery.

Gaudet Family Update – Carolyn Chambers Update

Dear Intercessors,

Thank you for your concern over our co-worker, Carolyn Chambers. Finally the Dr’s have a diagnosis. She tested positive for Dengue Fever, a mosquito borne disease prevalent in this region. Diagnosis for this was not straightforward as she did not have most of the typical symptoms for Dengue. It does manifest itself in different people differently however.

There is no treatment for Dengue other than treating the symptoms; reducing the fevers and pain, and rest. In addition, her blood platelet levels are very low, and the Dr’s want to keep her in the hospital to monitor her. We expect at this point that she will remain hospitalized for at least two more days.
Many have written and called and we know many are praying. Thank you so much. Please don’t stop. Of course we do not know how much longer she will be hospitalized or the cost, but the Lord is faithful. After all, He is the Great Physician. We trust Him for what she needs.

Gaduet Family Update – Co-worker Hospital Update

 Dear Intercessors,

How we thank God for each of you who stand in the place of intercession on behalf of the work here and the workers. Please don’t stop! Carolyn Chambers is still in the hospital at this writing. So far she has mystified the Drs’. They ran an additional battery of tests today for which we should know the results tomorrow. At this point however, they are simply treating her symptoms and controlling her fever. Her abdominal pain has subsided.

We will update you again concerning this situation as many have already expressed their concern via e-mail. Please pray!

Gaudet Family Update – Praise and continued prayer

May 20 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Greetings Brethren,

In a recent Update earlier this week, we asked prayer for a number of matters concerning the work and our co-workers. We want to update you briefly.

One matter that we did not have liberty to share specifically via e-mail concerned some of our co-workers who have been in Thailand seeking asylum from religious persecution in their country. Due to concerns for that status, even up to the day of their departure, we did not have liberty to share this information. After more than three years dealing with the UNHCR and waiting, they left Thailand this past Tuesday night, bound for the USA under the watch care of IOM, the agency which handles relocating refugees. As only the Lord could work it out, they were sent to Fort Worth, TX, where they were met by brethren from our home Church.

Please pray for Asim and Tina as they start a new life in the USA. This coming Monday, the agency which handles refugees in the Fort Worth area will start walking them through all the paperwork, etc… While the road ahead for them will no doubt be difficult, it will be without fear of persecution for their faith in Christ. These folks were an important part of our ministry and we will miss them dearly. But, we are delighted in what the Lord has done for them! We will be sharing more details about their testimony soon, but just wanted you to know that we are grateful for your prayers even when you do not know the whole story.

We mentioned some time-sensitive needs in our last e-mail Update. PTL, some funds have come in and much the pressure is off! We rejoice in God’s provision through many of you. The only remaining matter we are aware of at this time is the container shipment which is due to clear customs some time this next week. Please keep on praying.

Our newest Newsletter can be downloaded here.

Thank you for your prayers and concern. We would NOT want to attempt this ministry without you standing with us.

Gaudet Family Update – Co-worker in hospital, Please pray!

May 20 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:

Dear Intercessors,

We must ask you to pray for Carolyn Chambers as she is in the hospital at this time. She has been having some abdominal pain which grew much worse overnight. We took her to the hospital today and it was found that she also had a high fever. The doctors have concentrated on relieving the pain, reducing the fever and doing some preliminary tests.

Krinny is spending the night at the hospital with her tonight. We should know something more tomorrow, and when we do, I will send out another update. But for now we wish to ask you to pray.

Thank you on her behalf. Really she plays such a crucial role in the work here. Please pray!

Gaudet Family Update – Special Prayer

May 7 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
Brethren,

Thank you for standing with us in the place of intercession. You will never know what it means to all of us here. Please forgive the long Update…

In many ways, the past two months have been very hard. Several of our co-workers as well as Krinny and I have experienced oft-times severe health problems. Additionally, there have been several back-to-back instances of unusual expenses, mostly related to the ongoing work and personal needs of our co-workers and families. I will not go into it all here but suffice it to say that we are keenly aware of the work of the enemy.

Earlier Updates mentioned that the owner of the facility we rent for our office has put it up for sale. We asked prayer as an unscheduled move would be so disruptive and expensive. Just yesterday we were introduced to the new owner! As only the Lord can work it out, she was very happy to have us stay! All of our co-workers are delighted as moving would have impacted each of them in a big way. Now, instead of a huge bill for moving and setting up in a new location, we only need at this point to come up with around $450 additional to secure the contract, to be signed this Saturday.

Normally this would not be a serious problem, but the past two months have stretched us financially for around $2,500 in unbudgeted expenses as mentioned above. Also, over the next 10 days we are facing nearly $2,700 additional expenses (again unbudgeted) related to the work in Hmong, Karen, Urdu, as well as securing the contract for the office.

Also, the container spoken of in earlier Updates is due to arrive in around 10 days. Some offerings have come in so we should have enough on hand to clear the container from customs, but we will be short around $4,500 for trans-shipping of the Bibles to those who have requested them.

We have some other co-worker related prayer requests which will need to remain “unspoken” at this point, but are important nevertheless. Please hold up each one of our co-workers in prayer. They are precious to us and to the work.

As Krinny and I looked over these daunting figures, we were reminded of the fact that many of you pray faithfully for the work and in many ways are as invested in it as we are. Please intercede over these next days. Our Lord is faithful.

Tom and Krinny Gaudet

Gaudet Family Update – April 7 2013

April 9 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
Greetings from Thailand!

Please continue your intercession as both Krinny and I recover from the respiratory problems aggravated by smoke in the air as farmer’s burn their fields. Just about the time we think it will clear up, it hits us again.

The immediacy of the situation with us having to move our offices seems to have lessened as our landlord has been unable to sell. Pray with us that we will be able to stay in the facility until our contract runs out early next year. It will be month to month until then but we do have a plan of action if it is quicker. A move like this will be very disruptive and expensive so we hope to avoid it.

The 40′ container mentioned in the last update has now been shipped. Please pray as it is due to arrive in May. Lots of preparation needs to be made however before its arrival. We have had several requests for Bibles and this shipment has a good number in it.

One of my closest Thai friends is a pastor here in the area. He just shared a great testimony with me concerning a husband and wife who have been studying with him long distance. The husband was a Buddhist monk for 9 years before becoming a Christian. They are preparing to move here to continue studying the Bible with my pastor friend. He told me what a blessing the new believers’ studies and Bible Institute material have been as he has worked with them. It was such an encouragement to hear of materials produced in our ministry being used in this manner.

On many fronts we have seen the enemy trying to disrupt the work and discourage the workers. Thank God for victory however. We are grateful to each of you also for your part in intercession and financial support as we continue on. Thank you!

Gaudet Family Update – 21 Feb 2013

February 21 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
Greetings Brethren,

The family from our sponsoring Church mentioned in the last update were a blessing to us. As we requested prayer, we were able to make the shipment as scheduled. Thank you for praying.

Our Pastor and Wife are here with us now. Since Monday evening both Krinny and I have been basically out of commission with respiratory problems and fevers. I am on the mend, Krinny a bit slower. Several of our co-workers have also been sick. Even our Pastor has symptoms. Please pray. This was certainly not how we had envisioned our Pastor’s time here!

We hope to travel to the border ASAP. One of our co-workers is there now meeting a pastor who has come to pick up literature. Please pray for that shipment and for us to be able to make the trek. A rental car sits in the driveway awaiting…

The other matter we would like to bring to your attention is we were informed this week that our landlord is putting the facility we use as an office and house on the market for sale. Moving an office with workstations and server itself is a daunting task, but doing it at a moments notice will be more so. Please pray!

Gaudet Family Update – Feb 2, 2013

February 14 | Posted by Tom Gaudet | Gaudet Family Updates Tags:
Greetings Brethren,

We would like to ask you to intercede specifically for a few situations. It is such a comfort to know that many of you care, and pray.

A family from our sponsoring Church in TX is visiting with us now. Please pray for their time here. We will be traveling to the border on Monday and plan to return on Wednesday. It worked out perfectly to have this trip at this time.

One of the pastors for whom we have been holding Burmese Bibles has things sorted out to get them from us. Some circumstances have hindered this being done until now. We plan to make this shipment during the trip. Please pray for this shipment as well as all our travels.

This shipment marks the end of the Bibles we have on hand. Even this week we had to turn away a couple of requests for Bibles. The need remains as real as the day we completed the re-typesetting in 2010.

In an earlier e-mail update, we asked your prayer concerning the finances for hospitalization of one of our coworkers. As of today approximately 1/3 of it has come in. We are rejoicing for God’s provision. Please continue to intercede for the remainder, approximately $2,000.

Also please pray for a unique situation in the family of one of our coworkers. Their elderly mother has been denied a visa to remain in Thailand and must return to her home country. Her homeland is a conflict area and not at all safe, which is why she was in Thailand to start with. Not thinking this would be a problem, there is no provision either for her returning or even the cost of travel. Please pray about this matter.

The translation and publishing work we are doing requires people. We have learned if you have people working with you, they must be cared for. Most of them are not from Thailand and have only limited family and resources of any kind to sustain them here.

Three years ago I had nerve damage to my arm when I tripped and fell through a glass door. I had a surgery then to repair that damage, but have continued to have increased pain. In fact, this e-mail has taken me more than one hour to type. It may be necessary for me to have another surgery. Please pray.

Thank you so much for reading this long e-mail. Please intercede.

Tom and Krinny Gaudet
